HELP! paint damage; fallout from smoke(fire)
My truck (black/silver two tone) was parked in a parking lot next to a building that was leveled by fire last week. It took the fire dept 5 hours to put it out and throughout that time the smoke was so thick that you could not see 5' in front of you. After being able to get it out of the lot (blocked by fire trucks) and upon closer inspection, it was covered w/ bits of "stuff"(?). It appeared to be ash, maybe small cinders, and perhaps moisture laiden debris from the humid day and the water being sprayed on the fire. It has since rained almost ewveryday since and today is the first time I have been able to wash it. My paint seems to be damaged, kinda looks like water spots on the black. I tried clay-barring w/ no luck. Any suggestions? Will I need to use a cleaner wax? other? Maybe a buffer w/ 3m cleaner? As mentioned, my truck is black, so anything I do will show and the silver parts have visible black dots all over them. I am also a Zaino user, so is there anything I can do that won't upset that process? Will I need to Dawn and start the Zaino over again? Any recommendations on how I can bring my paint back to its former flawless finish? Suggestions please. Thanks. -Jeff
