Hey, on my Camaro, I've got 2 areas of cracking/flaking paint (it's like an area was sanded off or something and around the edges of the cracks are white and sometimes transparent flakes). It's been this way since I Bought it, but the flaking got worse and is becoming more and more of an eyesoar. What can I do? I really can't afford a whole new paint job just for a few 2 or 3 inch paint flakes. Can I buy car paint and apply it myself? I've got some touch-up stuff for minor cratches and chips, but it won't work at all for my flaking, I need a whole coat of real stuff on the area.

your car has been repainted before and the prep was bad. It is the clear coat coming off of the base coat. The only way to fix it is to repaint it. The spots that the clear has come off will need to be spot painted and the whole panel has to be re-cleared.
