front license plate mod!!

So for all those who have a 93-97 fbody and are stuck with a front license plate....I have a mod for you that will make life a lot better.

Take off the front plate and plate holder. Throw out the holder, but keep the two screws that connects it to the car. Bend the top and bottom edges of the plate over the back of itself so that it fits inside the black grill area. Bend it in the middle so the it "wraps" around the front of the car. Drill two holes where the screws go. Screw the plate back on the car. No holder and it blends into the car really nicely!!

You should take pics.

Luckily my state doesn't require front plates so I have a bowtie.

I like the idea... here in IL front license plate is a law, but I have NEVER had one... 3 years... pulled over many times, they never say anything besides "nice car" lol..

To each their own, but I think that people who cut their plates or bend and fold them, make their cars look worse than the normal flat brand new looking plate.

That sounds like a ticket waiting to happen. I'd say you're better off leaving it the way it is.

Hahaha Yep I use that one everytime too. Also I get a quote from the local chevy dealer saying one is being ordered, but it actually is not. Works so good, there like "ohh thats perfect!", and were impressed.

I Totally agree with Gord, it just down right looks hideous. Ive seen them bent in between the bow-tie emblem, and on the air dam. When you bend or modify the plate, remember this is something a ricer would do or wanna-be thugs. That sends a signal to the cops that this person is a possible deviant and pushing the law by modifying there plate to barley legible. In fact, they would rather see no plate other then a bent up one. Your better off having it not on and letting the police officer think you live out of the state/province, then risking if a police officer sees it that hideous way. (Currently getting a degree in Criminology, and pursuing a Police Officer career)

Re: front license plate mod!!

My bird doesnt have a grill?

Anyways, after i hit a dog and the front end got messed up, i used to use the excuse of, "i just got my front end replaced, the new plate is in the mail" well when the same cop kept pulling me over, he started catching on and finally gave me a ticket. I went to the DMV and told them i lost my front plate and needed a new one. They gave me a temp tag that was good for three months. This got me away from having a front plate for $10. The same cop insisted on pulling me over and actually gave me a "no front plate" ticket with a temp tag. It was bull**** and i got it dropped. Now days I just dont care, and the cop doesnt work the streets anymore.
