Finish 2001 wax ??

I know almost everyone on here uses Zaino and i am not knocking it, but i am trying to find something that is more cost effective. I want something that resists water marks and UV rays. I have the Meguires 'Gold Class' but i hate it - its too hard to get off.

Anyone tried this Finish 2001 or can recommend something else??

If you are looking for a decent store-bought wax, I'd look into Meguire's line of products...

FWIW, Zaino isn't really that much more expensive (if at all) than most other product lines... and the quality of product is light years ahead.

Good luck!

I would like to try the Zaino, but i only want maybe 2 bottles to have to deal with. And even then, will i have to use both every time i wax the car?

Well, keep this in mind. You only need to Zaino once every 6 months or so. The starter kit is a lot of stuff, but once it's polished, just wash it regularly (1 bottle) and store the rest.

In the long run, it's actually cheaper too somehow!

I keep using store bought stuff, because i dont really know how well zaino will make my car look...i dont even wax it for looks, i just do it for UV protection, so i just purcahsed the mequiars gold class last night, because it said it does deepen the shine, and has UV protection...i tryed zymol car wash, and wax last weekend, rained, got mud all over my car, and it looks like ****, it didnt repel anything, and you cant feel the coat of wax anymore. Tell me if you guys think if should try the zaino...

My paint is in very poor condition. the primer is coming off the top, so i have white flakey stuff on it, and looks pretty bad. It is starting to do it on the hood and also the rear fender..I guess thats what happens when you mix cheap chevy paint with nevada sun rays, i couldnt really tell you why else this is happening...i also, have various scratches along my car, and they can be easily found from waxing with white or light color wax...all in all the quality of my paint sucks really bad, and is embarrassing. What do you guys think?

Well thats easy, all you need is Zaino Z-1 Polish Lok which you will use once every 6 months and Zaino Z-2 Show Car Polish (or z-5 if you have a dark car) You do not have to use both every time you polish the car, total cost in US is 21.90 which would be good for 20+ coats.

There are actual tests done that were done with other brands and I forgot the link but basically the best store bought stuff is Zymol. Unfortunately, your car just got mud all over, that will screw almost any store bought brand. Meguiar's doesn't last as long as Zymol, and I've used both. Zymol will give shine and last a few more months than Meguiar's even if you gave it 3 coats.

I was told that i would need ZFX and Z2 - what is Z1? From what i read as well, the ZFX is to help speed curing time - which means the wax part will dry quicker - am i correct?

With ZFX you don't need Z1. ZFX allows the polish to cure/dry faster.

I use the Finish 2001 on my daily driver and like it alot. I've put maybe 4 coats on it the past 6 months and it has held up nice. (did great with just 1 or 2) It beads water up really nice too. I'd recommend it as a "cheap-fix". It doesn't really do much for a shine or removing swirl marks, but you said you want to repel water and have UV protection. Well, Finish 2001 can do it. And it's what, $6?

That's what i was thinking - for the money it's great bang for the buck !! I also thought the shine was pretty good .

You say you put 4 coats on - i suppose this stuff will layer and increase protection with every coat unlike many other waxes??

Zaino is more cost effective then any of those store bought products if used properly.

When I lived @ home, I would do my mom's car with 2001. The car was red, and the 2001 gave it a nice shine, and would take the oxidation right off. It is pretty abrasive. It seemed to last a long time too.

It ain't no Zaino though.
