A Few Zaino Questions

Hey.. I just got my new (to me) '96 Camaro about a week ago.. It's in great shape, thanks to a caring previous owner, and I want to keep it that way. I've been planning on using Zaino for it, but I wanted to be sure that I have the right list of products. Here is what I have gathered from the Zaino site:

Either Z1 or ZFX
Z2 - Polish for clear coated finish (All Camaros are clear coated right? At least in this year range...)
Z5 - Polish for swirls/scratches
Z6 - Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z7 - Show Car Wash
Z18 - ClayBar

Also, would it be wise to wash my car with Dawn or another dish detergent before beginning the Zaino process? I thought it might be a good idea to get all the other waxes that previous owners may have used on the car off... Finally, I am planning on getting the inserts for the rear Camaro indentation.. Do I want to hold off on the Zaino until I get those put in? Not sure if it will cause a barrier for the adhesives... And one last question, I was planning on getting the inserts in black (red car).. I'm not sure if the Chrome colors that RKSport offers would look better - so any advice on that would be great.

Thanks in advance...

Get the ZFX instead of the Z-1, you'll be glad you did. The rest of the products is what you want. You can always try other products if you want. I use them all except the Z-3.

Yes, wash with Dawn first, maybe even wash it twice.

As far as the CAMARO inserts, don't let that stop you from Zainoing. Just clean out the indentations of the letters with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip to remove any Zaino in them before applying the inserts.

That's exactly what I did with my RKSport fill-ins and they worked like a champ. Once you get the letters, you'll want to Zanio over them to help protect them. I have the black fill-in and they fit and look great. There's a pic of them in the link below. As for the color, personally I like black or silver on red, not chrome but it's your car so it's up to you. Enjoy the ride!

Pass on the Z-1 cause ZFX replaces it with better results. If you have swirls get Z-5 to remove them. One box of ZFX is enough for two bottles of Z-2 clear-coat polish. You better order an extra bottle of Z-6 gloss enhancer cause they recommend using it after every coat of polish and after every car-wash. Z-6 really brings up that wet-looking mirrored finish that everyone is trying to achieve. Also, they're polish applicators are awesome and don't forget the Z-7 car-wash. I also recommend using the California Duster after every trip in my f-body. I clean machine is everyone's dream.

Thanks for the help.. I'll be ordering the Zaino within the next week probably, and at the same time I want to get the fill-ins.. I'm definately going with black, but I don't know what the difference is between the carbon fiber and the urethane... So as soon as I find that out, I'll pick one and get that.. The carbon fiber is 65, the urethane is 55.. But I can't figure out the difference. Does anyone know? Thanks again for all the help..

If you want black, I'd get the black chrome inserts from RK Sports. I have the regular chrome ones on mine. They are more expensive but well worth it. I've heard alot of complaints about the urethane ones, especially when they compare them to the inserts like mine.
