easy way to apply any liquid tire wet

Some of you geniuses out there have probably already thought of this...I'm not claiming originality!

I wasn't real happy with the applicator sponge that came with the Black Magic Tire Wet...I realize that everyone likes a different product, but this should work with any liquid tire wet. Anyway, the sponge tore up pretty easily and the tire wet gots all over my hands and fingernails. I'm sure you're thinking, "Awwwe....poor baby." Now I didn't lose any sleep over this, but I think I found a better way to get the tire wet on there without having to resort to the shi'ity spray on tire wet.

It is one of the dish scrubbers that you fill up with soap and scrub, um, dishes. Check out the "dish wand" that is the fourth item in this picture, left to right.

It only cost $2.50. I cut the majority of the brillo-pad material off of mine with a sharp knife so that the liquid would get to the tire a bit easier. Pop the sponge part off (it's replaceable...another plus), then just hand-turn a drillbit in the plastic handle unit to open the hole up a bit more (tire wet doesn't flow as easily as soap, so a bigger hole equals better application). For the first couple minutes I put the tire wet directly on the sponge and applied to the tire...after the spongs was soaked, it worked even better IMHO than the pad that originally came with the Black Magic Tire Wet.

I realize this isn't a life changing event, but it made tire wet application a little more fun. Yes, more fun.

At most auto stores they have tire applicators with the tire curve molded into the applicator, some of these work very well, and some do not, they are not much money so try some differnt ones to see what works best for your needs

I actually got one of those curved sponges with the tire wet I bought...it had a yellow grip part, then the curved black sponge. I mainly didn't like it b/c it tore up way too quick and there was almost no way to keep my hands clean. The gel went everywhere. This dish wand deal is less than the sponges and seems to work very good.

Speaking of Zaino, I've been meaning to pick up some of that stuff...the reviews have been amazing.

Oh no! We've corrupted another

Travis, if you ever want a free demonstration of Zaino, swing down to Sarasota.

Back on topic, I use the Eagle One tire swipes (the ones with the yellow). My hands get dirty, but they usually are anyways from washing the car :P

Thanks Error...I appreciate the offer!

I just hate hate oily shi'ite all over when I use the sponge that came with the tire wet. I think that I waste more time coming up with jacked ways of doing stuff than I really should. But it makes for interesting thinking!

Try a very short bristle 3" wide paint brush. Put the Tire Wet (or whatever product you like) in a sealable container wide enough to accept the brush and you are set. Hands never touch the stuff and it is easily contolled around the rim.
