Post Does zaino make anything to take out small scratches?

Like it says, I had a stray dog scratch my hood, not deep scratches but enough to bother me.

Sorry to hear that...

But, no, Zaino does not currently offer a product to physically remove swirls and scratches. Your best bet would be some 3M SMR #39009, Meguiar's Scratch X, etc... These are mildly abrasive and will work OK providing the scratches aren't too deep. If you can catch your fingernail over the area, then nothing will completely restore it, it's just too deep. If they are light though, an abrasive will level them out and usually make it all go away. Rub against the direction of the scratch in straight motions with medium pressure until it disappears. You might finish up by rubbing along the scratch with lighter pressure, and it should be pretty much gone.

Keep an eye out at ZainoBros though, because there just might be a killer swirl remover in the works.

I once had a scratch you could barely catch a fingernail on. I applied Z-5 to it every day and eventually, with alot of coats, I couldn't find the scratch any more. Was never able to find it the rest of the time I owned the car.

I figured I'd try it before submitting to using an abrasive but it worked.

Hey, I don't know nuthin', I just post here!

Seriously, keep an eye out at Zaino, because they are constantly working on new products and tweaking current ones that we're sure to love in the future. Sal is his own biggest competitor! There are a few things in the works that will make life easier and shinier for us Zers! But, you didn't hear it from me!

Slowly i've bcome a Zaino devotee except one area, what you mentioned. Even after 30+ coats of Z5 it has yet to cover even one light scratch and thanks to the lovely roads in Pa I've picked up a few more!! Still I've become awed by Zaino........you wash your car and it beads like nothing i've ever witnessed, it lasts incredibly long, looks good even after a month. Unreal stuff!! But in my experience even if you have tiny scratches all Zaino does is make them more noticable. No biggie really, just get some 3m

My ONLY pet peeve about Zaino is the Z5...
I've gone through a complete bottle of this stuff now, it just takes so many coats to do so little....

which is why when i do customer's cars I almost always do the 39009 unless a few light swirls of which 2-3 coats of Z5 will fix.

baron4406,

Hey, good to hear from you. I was thinking about your past situation the other day wondering how things turned out with your car, but have not seen you post lately. Glad everything is working better for you! I know you were pretty bummed out a while back, so it's good that things are working out for you. Of course, it's great that you are having good results with Zaino now.

It is supposed to be pretty amazing, but the date hasn't been set yet.

I got an estimate of late fall or later.
