Clearcoated and non clearcoated?
I'm planning on detailing my car pretty soon, and feel like going the whole 9 yards. I've read so many good things about Zaino that I just may give them a try. My car, however, has hand-painted pinstriping. Would it be alright to use the Dawn, Claybar, and Zaino Clearcoat products on this? I'd just hate to ruin it by using the wrong products. Would it be best to even use the products Zaino offers for non clearcoated surfaces on just the pinstriping if I can? Thanks guys.
I don't think DAWN would affect the pinstripes, but I would probably not clay over them.
You could use either the Z2, Z3, or Z5 polish over the painted area, however since the area probably isn't clear coated, you might want to grab a bottle of Z3. If you already have any Zaino polish, you might try it on a small area first and see if it affects it in any way. Since Zaino isn't arasive I can't see it removing the paint. However, like most any wax or sealant product, Zaino does contain a light carrier solvent, and this could slightly affect the paint. It really depends on the quality of the paint I would think. I've seen a test where Zaino was used over a spray painted metal panel, and no paint rubbed off after applying the Zaino, so personally I don't think the Zaino would bother it in any way. Like I said though, I wouldn't use the clay around that area or any abrasives either....
I would hate for the clay to mistake your nice pinstripes for overspray!
