Clear coat issues

Clear coat issues
I made the mistake of leaving my firebird along the curb of the house last week instead of in the driveway at our house...
Long story short, some cockroach sprayed pop/beer all over my car, which took me 10 bucks worth of car washes to get off.
My main question is, I finished waxing it again, but some of the scratches in my clear coat are royally pissing me off. It seems that if you breathe on it the wrong way, it goes to hell. I'm about to head for the rubbing compound, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Any products you guys use specifically to restore the finish without actually going to the extreme of rubbing compound?
I'm not afraid of a little work, if I have to scrub for hours, so be it.

Rubbing compound is usually too rough, you need to try to use a milder polishing compound before you break out the heavy guns, try 3M Swirl Mark Remover Part number 39009.
