Post ClayBar Causing or Showing Scratches?

Hey Guys,

Yet another question: I begain claying my car today but noticed small scratches on the sections I had clayed once I finished running over it with the bar. I washed the car yesterday evening then let it sit in the garage overnight before claying earlier today. Has enough dust settled on the car to cause these scratches when rubbing it with the bar or is the ClayBar simply revealing scratches that were already there?

Furthermore, the finish doesn't feel as smooth as glass. The water spots are gone but the paint has felt smoother simply using a quick wax spray. Is this something to be concerned about?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Josh

Yeah, dust settling is a possibility for scratching. The best time to clay is immediately after a wash so the paint is completely dust and soil free. Also, did you use enough lube when claying? Good lube is very important or else you WILL see scratches. My paint was super smooth after claying, so I dont understnad yours not coming out so smooth. Clay won't reveal scratches, so if you see any new ones, it is likely the result of claying.

You must continuously knead and re-fold the clay after most every pass to get to a fresh side of the clay, you can not use the same side of the clay to clay an entire section of paint.
