clay spray

I bought some Clay Magic from Autozone. Clayed my car and I couldn't believe all the crap the clay pulled off the car. Anyway, I probably used half the bottle of spray and will probably finish it off while claying the wife's car. Is there a home made recipe for a spray that I can use as a substitute? I.E. A mixture of distilled water and car wash.

Most people use a car wash/water mixture, with Zaino Car Wash one capful of Z-7 Car Wash per 16 ozs. of water, other car washes can be used as well.

I always use a car wash solution for claying, usually Z7. The QD sprays just don't provide the lube I like to have on the finish when claying. With a car wash solution, I completely wet and soak the area in water and suds, then begin claying. I'll even soak the Zaino clay in water sometimes since it won't fall apart.

I basically use clay in the same techinque as if you were wet sanding the paint. Always keep it completely wet/soaked, and use light to medium pressure. Never had problems in doing this....

The mothers clay bar uses Showtime as a lubricant. This stuff great for detailing and removing wax dust too.
