My sister just got herself a brand new 2002 Celica. The paint should be brand new and in perfect condition, right? Wrong. She asked me to wax her car and when I went up close I couldn't believe the swirls/fine scratches in the car. I hooked her up with some Z5. Zaino on bright red cars gives such a wet-looking shine. It looks better than brand new now, but it still pisses me off

Car dealers are the worst on car's paint by far, they wash them with whatever crap and cloths they have laying around, the longer a car sets on the lot the worse the paint gets. Next car I order, I am having the dealership call me and when it is unloaded from the truck I am going to be right there to see it off and to my house, no one is touching it other than the mechanical stuff that has to be done.

Sad, but true, that noone else will care about your car the way you do. When I was shopping for a new car I visited one dealer that had some lame detailing crew cleaning up the cars. They were wiping them down with filthy rags, no soap or lube, and the buckets looked like they were filled with dirty toilet water! So, when I finally decided on my car I had to tell the dealer ( a completely unrelated dealer from the one just mentioned BTW) about a dozen times not to touch it! They couldn't believe I didn't want it detailed or even just sprayed off, but in the end I left with a little dirty G35 complete with bird poo, BUT...no swirls! I actually had a discussion with one of the finance managers about how a rare few customers are like me and want the car to never be touched so they could clean it themselves. I even talked with him about Zaino vs Meguiar's for a while...hehe right up my alley. He seemed like he might use Meguiar's but I don't know. I gave him the Zaino web addy if he was interested in learning more and left happily. Sadly enough, noone is going to take the pride and care of your belongings like you do. To future buyers: insist they never touch the car if you care about the finish!! You are paying the money and have every right to demand it be done. Dealers want the cars cleaned as quickly and cheaply as possible, but quickest and cheap isn't always the safest. The fewer the hands that touch it before you, the better you'll be!

BTW, the dealer I was referring to that was using low quality, careless detailers was a Toyota dealer, so maybe it runs in the family with that company.

 

Man tell me about it! I picked up my 02 SS last week and unfortunately I forgot to tell them NOT to touch it. Let's just say that a dealer wash on Navy Blue Metallic = swirl city. It's actually painful to look at from some angles. I think it actually has more swirls than my 94 did.

 

I was there when my TA was unloaded off the truck, covered in mud.

I was there when they hosed off my TA, with a pressure washer.

I was there to smack the guy upside the head when he reached for a towel and bucket.

I was there to drive off my TA, with water spots and miscellaneous dirt spots, but no swirls.

Now it looks immaculate
