Buying a Buffer
Buying a Buffer
After reading a few threads here a Porter Cable buffer seems to be the way to go for a beginner buffing.
I saw this on ebay, and the price beats alot of other places

Would this be a good place to start?
I was looking to not only take out some fine spiral scratches in my paint but also after wet sanding my tail panel buff it to a scratches shine.
Which pads should I get for both of these? I saw a buffing pad as well as a polishing/waxing one. Would these both do the trick or do I need one in between specifically for removing the swirls in my paint?

You will need also a flex velcro backer plate and I would get a yellow and white pad (if you have extra money get also the orange and black pads), If I where you , I only want to pay shipping one time so I would not get the one from Ebay, rather I would get the buffer, backer plate, and pads all from the same vendor, I would probably choose Coastal Tool online. Coastal has the buffer for 99 bucks I believe and they have a kit for a little over 100 that gets you the buffer and backer plate and they also sell Lake Country Pads (what I use), so go to their site and put the buffer kit in your shopping cart and buy the pads you want and put those in your cart also and then check out so that way you get all your stuff from one vendor and only pay shipping once.
Thanks, ordered from there and got a good price! I got the buffing kit with the counterweight and the backing pad included for $115, so thats not bad.. $3 cheaper than it would have been seperatly and got 3 pads, orange, white, and black. Total of $153 with shipping!
Thanks for all the advice! We shall see how this goes, going to do my tail panel first, and then hopefully the hood and spoiler to get out lots of light swirl marks!

when i ordered my porter cable i got 12 pads
But i used to work in bodyshops so I want the abiltity to do many different jobs. Like the blue and black pads the best, if its not too late add them to your order. Just need one each, you ll love both of them.
