Best way to wash LT1 engine bay?
Best way to wash LT1 engine bay?
What's the best way to wash the LT1 engine bay? I'm afraid to even attempt because of everything thing I hear about the opti-spark. Just wondering how you guys wash it, mine is getting pretty dirty.

I use that stuff, and dilute it sometimes depending on the area im working on. When the paint is clean in the engine bay, you can wax it and it will help keep it cleaner in the future.
I just use a towel or rag, spray the area, and wipe. Works great..
Afterwards I dress the rubber/plastic (intake elbow, rad support, power steering reservoir, etc) with a water-based dressing.
Hope this helps...

Your opti is vented so, it should be able to cope with a little moisture, but try to keep it dry as much as possible.
I generally get the car running and operating tempertaure, shut it off.
Put a baggie over the opti to protect it best as possible.
Hose everything down, staying away from the baggie.
Spray Simple Green on any areas that are dirty or greasy, let sit few mins, and toothbrush em clean, rinse again.
I then generally towel dry as best as I can without burning myself on engine components.
Its quick, easy, cheap, and effective. I also like to polish the chrome/metal pieces with mothers metal polishes, and a little finish work here and there. Tire dressing on rubber maybe, and wax interior paint and the bottom of the hood, etc. it will come out super.
Fire it up after and make sure it gets completley dry.
