Best way to get rid of swirl marks?
To rid yourself of swirls, you'll likely need a light abrasive swirl remover, like the ones on this page: http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/sub...egory=Polishes I'd personally recommend either the 3M SMR #39009 or Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner/Polish to start with. These will work best with a buffer, but can be done by hand. They will also deal with light to moderate swirling, so if you have anything heavier, you may want to check out the heavier polishes or lighter compounds, as a last resort.
For application, the same site has a few tips: http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/?pa..._handpolishing
With a machine things go rather quick with even results, but by hand the results may seem uneven or better in some places, less in others, due to the nature of hand polishing. You basically want to work in the same area until you're happy with the finish. Then move to another and reproduce the same results, until the whole car is done.
