Question Another Zaino question :)

Ok, I have have made up my mind and would like to start using this wax. I have looked on this board and the zaino website a lot but I still can't find out my simple questions.

I want to start from scratch #1. I am talking claybar here too. What exactly do I need?
What is essential and what is not?

Would the new ZFX make it any easier for me?

I just need a basic kit and would like to know what I need to start, cause I get really confused when I read all the different types that people buy.

Thank you so much!!!

You will want to get:

Z-1 or ZFX but not both (ZFX makes Zaino a one step instead of two and makes the polish dry faster and you can do 3 coats in one day and the polish will layer)
Z-2 Show Car Polish
Z-5 Show Car Polish for Scratches and Swirls (optional)
Z-6 Gloss Enhancer
Z-7 Car Wash
Z-18 Clay Bar

Need more info: just send me an email to koverall@cddn.com

Kevin,

What do you mean by this? You do this in place of Z-2 + Z-6 with the same result?

I was thinking about getting Zaino and I see people asking how many applications you get out of a bottle, but I don't see very many answers.

For instance, I have a lot of small scratches on my Z28 that I can't catch my nail on (so they are fairly shallow). So I figured that three coats of the Z-5 should maybe take care of that based on what I've read. Will I get three applications out of one bottle of Z-5?

And if I use the Z-5, what else would I need? I'm not sure if I want to go through the clay bar process or not.

Can you please list (or email, if it's better) the products and quantity (number of bottles) that will be required?

Also, am I better off buying from out of state to avoid sales tax or will the shipping charges from out of state offset that savings?

Thanks!

Mike

The ZFX is an additive that you add to the Z-2 or Z-5 or even Z-3. It is mixed in a small 2 oz. applicator bottle. It gives quicker drying time and zero curing time. You can put up to 3 coats on in a single day. You can read up on all the ZFX details on the Zaino webpage.

Per bottle, the really experienced users get up to 20 or so coats, the average user gets around 12-16 per bottle. The least you should get is 8 applications per 8 oz. bottle of polish. If you are using more than 1 oz. per application you are using WAY too much and wasting alot of polish.

Depending on how bad the scratches are it could take several coats to completely fill them in. After 3 or 4 layers of Z-5 you shoukld start noticing a difference with each successive layer, UNLESS, you go.

If you really want to achieve the best results, a clay bar is a big part of the surface prep. It will remove the surface contaminants and get it back to the original smooth as glass surface.

The minimum I'd get is the Z-1 cleaner/prep, the Z-5 polish (since you are wanting to fill the swirls), the Z-6 enhancer spray, the Z-7 wash and a few applicators. If you decide to get the ZFX accelerator additive, you won't need to buy the Z-1.

You can e-mail Sal Zaino and ask who the closest distributor is, there are several, I believe, in CA or order direct from The Zaino office in NJ. An order form is on the webpages.

I would go to the Zaino webpage at www.zainobros.com and read up on all the information about the products and their use and application. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks Kevin.

Will I be able to get 3 to 4 applications of the Z-5 out of one bottle. It seems like since it is a rubbing polish you may use more of it than the regular polish where you should get at least 8 applications. I may be wrong.

Also, do you get a discount from going with an independant dealer that going directly through Zaino? And at what point would you get a discount by buying 10 things vs 2?

Thanks again for the info!

No rubbing involved with Z-5, it just fills better than Z-2 does. You get the same amount of coat from Z-5 as you do from Z-2, both provide the same paint protection qualities. Should get 12+ coats from either Z-5 or Z-2.

All distributors sell at the same price as Sal lists on his web site here www.zainobros.com , discounts come per case.

JetLag - There is a Zaino Distributor in Sacramento:

http://www.ralphshotrodheaven.net/

Thats the web address. They are in the process of moving shops, so maybe email him to see where you can pick up the Zaino. Hes a nice guy and of course has the regular Zaino prices. Beats waiting a few days for them from www.zainobros.com
