100% Cotton Terry Cloths

Can I get these clothes at Walmart?? I looked in the auto section, and they have to 10 packs, but they are made in Pakistan, which makes me question if they really are 100% or not.

Are they in the home furnishing section?

I would not use any towels that came from WalMart, the better towels are found in stores in malls like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but the two kinds that you should be looking for are Fieldcrest Charismas (the best) or Fieldcrest Royal Velvets. Those are the only two that I use in my towel business. (I sell towels already cut, edges trimmed off, sized, and the edges resewn with triple stich cotton thread to prevent raveling)

Like Kevin said, I would never use those packs of rags on my car. They will cause scratches and swirls because generally they aren't pure cotton or use crappy materials. Using improper toweling, wash mitts, drying towels, etc, is probably the #1 reason people notice swirls and scratches in their finish. It's very counterproductive to spend hours waxing and polishing a car only to have it ruined in 30 seconds by some cheap towels. Proper toweling, mitts, etc, won't cost much more and the results are far better and much safer. I think I've found "my" perfect combination of toweling, washing, and drying products after years of trying different methods, and now I am able to stay 100% swirl and scratch free....

I myself prefer Microfiber for buffing now, but as Kevin suggested, you can get some Fieldcrest towels locally that should work OK for you. Sure, they're a little more expensive, but isn't the car worth it?

I have two kinds of towels, both white color only, edges removed and re sewn on a special machine called a serger with all cotton thread to prevent ravel. I have Fieldcrest Royal Velvet and Fieldcrest Charisma, the Royal Velvets are great but the
Charismas are heavier and softer.

My standard towels come in a pack of 2 sized 20 inches by 28 inches approx., one pack of Royal Velvet is 15.00 and one pack of Charismas are 18.00. I can do special orders, full sized towels, 2 to a pack, or 4 to a pack(each pack contains the same
amount of toweling, just cut different)

Cotton Wash Mit, I have those also

You'll be fine as long as they are 100% cotton and Made in the USA. Don't be fooled by 100% cotton made elsewhere as they tend to have sone additional materials in them that can scratch your finish when being used.

I get my towels at Zellers. Ther're Cannons 100% cotton made in USA, they pass the "burn test" and are cheap. Been using them for 2yrs with no problems.

To find quality towels, read the tag carefully. You want to make sure it says "100% Cotton" & not "100% Cotton Loops" (which means the backing is probably polyester). The Wallymart towels print the "Loops" bit so small you can barely see it. Also, look for "Made in USA" and the USA cotton association symbol.

For directions on determining the fabric content using the "burn test" see http://www.lindrix.com/fabcontent.html
