WTB 97 Camaro Tail Light Harness
Apparently it needs to be for the 5-speed

I just bought a 97. They had changed out the tail lights for 96's(?) and also changed the rear harness. The wiring runs through the car differently on a 97 and different again on a 5 speed. So the "blue brake wire" is missing and the brake lights do not work (3rd does). The dealer has it & is looking for a harness yet I think theyre gonna kill me on markup & take all my money for my wedding next week.

 

try using a small piece of clothes hanger and push it in where the wires go in the socket, that fixed my 97

 

Wow. I'd love for it to be as simple as that sounds. Though I haven't looked at it closely, the wiring guy at the Chevy Dealership Shop told me the required "blue wire" for the brake lights isn't even in the 96(?) model harness that's now in the car. So, really I'm not sure what you're saying needs to be pushed in.

I can get the 97 harness. A next question might be will the 96 tail lights work ok with the 97 harness? Could I get it to plug in and get the correct areas to light correctly?

 

Yes you can use tail light from any 93-02 car with no issues..
