Wanted: LT4 Hotcam
i am considering this cam too, as i am looking to downgrade from my 306, but i havent been able to find any used. jegs and summit keep them but thats about the only place i have seen them, other than a company on ebay who regrinds cams to that hotcam spec... noone has seemed to have had a problem with his cams from the people i know with them, but they arent the original gmpp hotcam.. if i dont find one soon i will prolly end up going this route

Geezer, ran at the track Friday night, in cooler weather. Did a 13.12 @ 104.3 with a 1.77 60 foot. Haven't changed the converter; that's in the works for this winter. I now know that the valve springs in the car are wasted; it was starting to nose over into valve float at slightly higher than stock shift points.
Since I drive the car a lot, I don't want to get too hairy with the cam. MPG is still fairly important to me and the car isn't a weekend toy or dedicated drag racer. On top of that I have the rest of the LT4 Hotcam stuff sitting in a box next to another set of stock heads that need a valve job after I do some mild port work to 'em. The mildly ported heads with the hotcam and a good converter should net me some decently impressive gains without compromising driveability. I'm figuring that mid to low 12's aren't unreasonable. Done this way it's not too expensive and I can put aside some cash for a 12 bolt rear to do away with the made-of-glass 10 bolt.
On a side note, at the track, the guys I went with couldn't believe that I had never lifted a valve cover; they all figured I had more going on than the bolt-ons. Go figure.
Wait until spring.

Im sure you'll get a 12 with cooler temps coming in. A nice friday night in october with temps in low 40's should do it. Its got the trap for a 12. I've gone high 12's with less mph b4. Maybe yank the sway bar out next time or try and just disconnect it and 50 psi in the front tires. I rememeber adjusting the driverside rockers once cause I thought one was loose. I'd go over them and see if maybe thats why its diving over on the top end.

What I'm probably going to do in the next few days is pop on the LT4 valve spring kit and the 1.6 rockers I have sitting next to the car. If I'm going throuhg the trouble of popping the valve covers to adjust valve, might as well go all the way and install the rockers, too...
The car needs a converter, bad. My wallet says that it has to wait, though.
