My brother wants to sell the 454 out of his '97 1-ton. He did a full rebuild recently but failed to clean the grooves in the pistons before he put the rings on them, so it burned oil horribly. Apparently he cleaned one piston and decided to call it a night. When he came back to it later and started ringing the pistons, he forgot that he'd only cleaned one. He was tired of messing with it so after weighing the cost of having a shop pull the motor and re-ring the pistons vs. having GM put a new unit in, he decided to go with latter. Now he's just trying to cut his losses and be done with it.

It's a long-block with valve covers and an oil pan. According to him, all it needs is to have the pistons removed and re-ringed and it should be a good engine. He'd like to get $750.00 for it. I can get out there and get some pics upon request. (please be patient, this is finals week. ) If anybody wants to talk to him personally send me a pm and I will give you his cell. The engine is located near Fort Smith, Arkansas. It could probably be picked up at his place of employment or I'm sure he'd work with you on shipping it if you made the arrangements.
