Trailer hitch for Firebird

Trailer hitch for Firebird
I have a trailer hitch that came off my '95 Firehawk that's been in the garage forever. It's in great condition, but I do not have any of the hardware to attach it to the car. I'm not sure what the bolts/nuts would cost. I can't remember the cost exactly but it was over $100. I just need to get it out of the garage: $25 plus shipping. If you need a pic, let me know.
Thanks,

$25 is a great price for a hitch. I had one on my TA to pull a diddy trailer full of tires, tools and shade to road racing events.
It certainly takes up less space than a truck and trailer and costs a LOT less ...
1/2" or 5/8" Grade 8 bolts should suffice. Maybe $10 worth of hardware ...
There are factory slots in the side of the rear frame rails and factory holes in the bottom. stick the bolts in the slots and slide them down the frame rail till they fall through the holes.
I had to drill 2 holes for my Hidden Hitch brand.
With the drawbar removed, the hitch was invisible ...

Re: Trailer hitch for Firebird
Yes I had a hitch on a Firehawk. For the exact reason mitchntx mentioned--for a small trailer to carry my race tires to/from local events. Back in '96 when I first started doing roadcourse events, I didn't have the money or space for a tow rig and trailer. If you've been to any SCCA event, you'll see lots of guys do this.
I now have a nice tow vehicle and enclosed trailer, so "the_tight" I don't see it as dumb, I see it as making do with what I had at the time. Try fitting 4 race tires, a jack, tools, etc all in the hatch of an f-body. Doesn't really work.
remaxracer, pics will be coming to you tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks,

Do not knock the hitch thing. I have a hitch on my beach buggy 96 TA WS6 Vert (6spd). I use it to haul my jetskis to the beach. I think that tis is the only way to get to the beach..................

Some old school engine builders belive the best way to break in a motor is obviously do the mid rpm idle to break in the cam, etc..etc... but then throw a hitch on it with some cement bags and hit some hills. You break a motor in like a wuss, your gonna get a wussy motor....Do this and they say your motor will actually be better off then you breaking it in idling or or daily driving it slow.I honestly belive this....Just a thought.
