Sweet set of LT1 heads and solid roller cam
Sweet set of LT1 heads and solid roller cam
I had a set of stock LT1 castings ported several years ago by West Coast Cylinder Heads (www.proheads.com). On my old 383 with a dinky 230/230 duration, .603/.603 lift hydraulic cam, my car put down 436 rwhp through puny RK Sport shorty headers. Longtubes would have probably bumped that up another 10-15 hp. So, I know they flow well. The heads have roughly 26K miles on them, and look great. I just had a local shop (www.portpros.com) check them out and they came back with a clean bill of health. These are ready to go as is. They don't even need to be resurfaced.
The heads include:
- 2.00/1.56-inch Manley Raceflow valves
- Fresh valve guides
- Isky Tool Room 1.55-inch valvesprings
- Titanium retainers
- ARP 7/16-inch rocker studs
- Comp Cams guide plates
- 55cc combustion chambers
I was quoted peak intake flow numbers of 288 cfm right after the heads were ported, but thought that sounded too high. So I had them flowed by a third-party shop (www.race-prep) just for the hell of it when the 383 they were on needed a rebuild. Sure enough, West Coast Cylinder Heads wasn't spewing any BS. I'll include the flow sheets and port velocity sheets with the heads. Numbers:
Intake/Exhaust
.100: 68.4/51.8
.200: 130.5/105.7
.300: 187.3/133.3
.400: 231.2/163.4
.500: 260.7/186.1
.600: 279.1/198.9
The cam is a custom Comp Cams grind on a billet core. It measures 247/252; .650/.650; 112 LSA. In a 12.0:1 383, this thing is TAME and drives and idles like an LT4 HOT cam in a 350. It only has 100 miles on it.
Pictures will be posted tomorrow.

There's a pending deal on the heads.
No. Compression would be way too high to use them with a stock cam.
