FS: Ultimate 396 LT1 "short block"

All work performed by B&B Performance.

Includes:
Seasoned LT1 block bored 0.040" over
Crower UL95127 billet ultralight 46 lb. 4340 forged 3.875" crankshaft, internally balanced
Crower ML94006B-2 Maxi-Light Series 2 6.0" rods, 505 grams
Custom JE 2618 forged 4.04" pistons, gas ported, -5cc dish
Ceramic thermal barrier, dry film lubricated
Childs & Albert Moly Plasma rings
Childs & Albert rod and main bearings
ARP main studs
Oliver billet 4-bolt splayed main caps
Pro-Gram billet rear cap

Moroso Race/Blueprinted oil pump
Canton oil pick-up
Canton oil pan
Stefs 0.060" oil restrictors
Manely lifter valley breather tubes
Bushed lifter bores
Cloyes billet hex-adjust double roller timing chain
Comp Cams solid roller cam, 260/266 @ 0.050", 0.688"/0.688", 112 lsa
ARP head studs
Brand new polished LT1 water pump housing, ready for electric water pump
Brand new CSI electric water pump*

Dyno time at B&B Performance only, never installed in or run in a car. Made 640+ horsepower untuned with a set of 330+ cfm AFR 215cc raised runner heads and Hogan's intake (sorry, not for sale). B&B invoice. Separate receipts for parts marked "provided", dozens more pictures available on request, sell for $5,000 + shipping, in completely enclosed plastic engine shipping crate. $10k+ invested: crankshaft was $2,950 balanced, rods were $2,150, pistons were $830... you get the idea.

*Disassembled to powder coat front cover, but it turned out that it's not "end-user serviceable". Some internal parts weren't separable from the front cover, so it never got powder coated. No damage, just need to send it back to CSI for reassembly.

Optional: ATI Corvette LT4 aluminum Super Damper - Add $250 ($400 new)
Optional: Brand new Comp Cams custom solid roller, 242/248 @ 0.050", 0.615"/0.615", 112 lsa - Add $275 ($350 new)
Optional: Brand new Billet Fabrication valve covers similar to shown, no breathers, with spring oilers - Add $300 ($460 new)

Guys that's a screaming deal for that....

I wouldn't part it out, the rotating assembly should stay together, but $5K for the whole thing is a freaking steal... Trying to replicate that with parts that are half the quality would be STUPID expensive as well.

The Crower rods and crank are worth this much as the man said!

Damn great price. Hell I just spent that on my 383 solid roller motor. Wish I would have seen this about a month and a half ago.

I'll probably be swapping my "396" throttle body cover plate for one that says "427" in the very near future.

BTW, I'll throw in the plate with the engine if the buyer wants it, but it was made for an AZS&M Monoblade.

Re: FS: Ultimate 396 LT1 "short block"

is this setup streetable at all? Seems pretty aggressive....is that HP rating at the crank? What octane gas can be run in the motor?

...and how much horsepower would you guestimate the engine will lose with a set of AFR 220's ported and an LT4 intake port matched to the heads...

Nope, Motown.

The cam in the engine will run on pump gas with the right heads/CR (like my 64cc AFRs), but it would probably be a little ragged for a street car. The 242/248 solid roller would be a better choice for a daily driver.

Depends on what they flow. Not sure what effect an LT4 intake would have.
