FS: My aborted project car
FS: My aborted project car
I'm at a strange point where I'm either ready to put in the last 10% of time and money required to finish this project, or call it quits. Either way, I won't be heartbroken. Plus, I'm looking to move soon, and transporting the car would be one less headache to deal with. So here are the details.
Car:
- '95 Polo Green Z28
- 90,000 miles
- Six-speed
- Tan leather seats and t-tops
- Every option in the book other than an auto trans and traction control
- There are a few small dings on the quarters, and it needs a new front bumper cover, but I'm not blowing smoke when I say it's damn clean overall. Being absolutely **** about keeping in spotless and countless coats of Zaino have paid off.
Engine:
- Freshly rebuilt 383 with a forged Eagle crank, 6-inch H-beam rods, and Wiseco pistons
- Direct port NOS Pro Race fogger nitrous already plumbed. The kit's good for 600+ hp, if you so desire
- Same LT1 stock heads off my old combo, which were ported by West Coast cylinder heads a long time ago. I had them benched at an independent shop where they flowed in the 280/200 range
- Custom Comp solid roller measuring 248/252 @ 0.050; .650/.650 lift on a 112 LSA
Driveline:
- Spec stage III clutch
- Dennys Nitrous Ready driveshaft
- Currie 9-inch rearend with 4.11 gears, 31-spline axles, and a 1350 billet steel yoke. It needs a new posi
Little junk:
- Jet Hot long tubes
- Custom y-pipe
- You'll need to come up with a cat-back
- Meziere electric water pump
- BBK 58mm throttle-body
- Summit non-self aligning rockers
- Hoosier 28x10x16 slicks mounted on an extra set of chrome salad shooters
- There's a bunch of parts I didn't list for space reasons or because I just can't remember.
*****The problem:*****
On the first drive (one mile) after rebuilding this current motor, I found out the heads were cracked. I had new valve guides installed prior to buttoning up the motor, which is probably what did them in. I do not know if they can be repaired. Another minor snafu is the rear brakes are sticking. The calipers need to be clearance with some spacers of washers. Also, the way the nitrous was plumbed, there's a minor clearance issue with one of the tubes and the throttle cable. It still runs, but rubs. Also, the fuel line bracket on the manifold was cut off in order to fit a nitrous nozzle. It needs to be converted to an -AN set up or some other creative engineering. Not a big deal, but things worth mentioning.
In it's current status, with the water pump disconnected, it can be driven very short distances. In other words, you can drive it up to and off of a trailer if someone actually decides to buy it.
I honestly haven't a clue what a fair asking price would be, so please e-mail me all serious inquiries. Everything's up in the air right now. If it's not feasible to sell it as is, I'll consider parting it out.
Thanks
