I purchased a set of supposably zr1 wheels and tires in great shape from this thread:

I have my 99ss rims and tires for sale there 17/9inch zr1 rims.There gray with red ss bow ties in the middle.The tires are about 6 months old,with 275/40/17 kuhmos.There in great shap and in good condition iam asking 850.00 obo.My e-mail is isis385h@yahoo.com

ok we work out a deal and i end up paying 880 with shipping. I knew this was top dollar but after talking to him thought the wheels were perf and the tires had lots of tread. Well i get these things last night and i was pissed. 2 of the wheels that came off this 99 ss WERE NOT even gm rims. One of those non gm rims has a bent lip that is clear as day to see. 2 of the Kumhos he talked about are not even kumhos they are mohawk predators or some bull crap. The caps aren't even what he said. 2 are ss and 2 are corvette. The rims have paint peeling in various ares. When he shipped them he didnt even do anything except tape a shipping sticker on the tread. The gm rims and aftermarket rims are a totally different color silver. The gm one have metallic flecs in them and the cheapos don't. I emailed Matt stating I was not happy. He told me I bought sweet great looking rims in good condition. He said thats what used rims look like. When I asked why the tires were different than what he said this was his reply"i replaced the 2 kumhos because they were bad, i did this for you". If they are beat up you tell people that when they ask. He said he will not refund my money, even after i agreed to ship the frickers back at my expense. I filed a paypal and an internet fraud through the fbi against him. He is a guy with no integrity. It took me 11 days to get them after he had my money. Steer way clear of this clown. It is sad when people have to lie to make money off others. A$$holes like this always get what they deserve in the long run.

this is the last time i buy anything on here. It is sad because i have had many good experiences.

on the other end of the spectrum, my wife is ready to kill me because for the last month i started a box collection in the den. i am collecting boxes to protect the chrome 17" rims i have up for sale.

and some guy is questioning my estimate of 50lbs for each wheel tire combo when i calculated 125 for shipping - at a reduced rate because i was calling a favor and having a neighbor ship them from his place of business, using his UPS account.

you shoulda asked for pics....he sold you used wheels and tires for $780? That is NOT top dollar and a few knicks here and there is ofcourse expected...nowhere in his add did I see him saying they were true ZR1's.....Kuhmos are nice tires to begin with, they are cheap too so I think aslong as all 4 are in great shape you got a good deal....I think you got for the price a fair deal....now the bent lip thing, sounds more like a shipping issue....I know fed ex has a 100 dollar warranty atleast per rim so contact them about the repair if MAtt claims the bend wasn't there to begin with....sorry man but in my opinion there really isn't anything you can do....I have sold MANY times on this board and others and when I sold rims and tires all I did was just send them off with the adress tape on them no prob.....if the center caps weren't what you wanted have MAtt send ya two SS ones...big deal...thats like 20 bucks or so.....I feel your pain but at the same time it seems like you gave him no time to work this out and were a little too quick to report him...atleast he emails you, most people I see here don't get any sort of a response after a transaction...after the actions you were quick to take I am 99% sure you are stuck with what you bought since technically no fraud was commited, good luck proving otherwise....sorry, be more careful next time man and make sure you know EXACTLY what you want before you buy anything online

It is obvious Matt and you are friends or what not. If he was on the up and up why did he tell me all 4 kumhos were in great shape and then replace two of them with mohawks(never heard of them) and not tell me until i asked him wtf after i got them? 780 bucks for peeling not chipped rims is not a deal in my opinion. He didn't even send the right center caps. I understand covering for a friend but come on. He was totally misleading.

 

misleading and fraud are two completely different things...you shoulda thought about that before you reported him to an fbi site and what not.....his ad was not missleading and I believe he was willing to compensate you for the caps which at most was prob the only real fuzzy thing in the whole deal man.....

the whole waiting for the rims thing was bs...he told you he is a hospital worker who works long shifts and couldnt send the rims till the following monday...you said that it was cool...yall had phone convos and ALOT of emails so everythign was clear...I don't see how all of a sudden you try to make him out to look so shaddy....

all of a sudden you bring up all these things to make him look like a crook when he isn't.....if he woulda ripped you off I woulda been on your side and been on his *** for it like he deserved but in this case he didnt do anything wrong...you were for some reason expecting true ZR1's for the price of zr1 style wheels which do look good...nothing really wrong with em unless you are being ****....if you wanted mint you shoulda bought them new....that price for brand new tires and rims that are in good shape is fair...again, I even asked him if he said they were true ZR1's and he said he didnt....at most he owes you new centercaps....thats it

next time ask for pics so you save you and the seller this hassle....

again why would a 99 SS have fake SS wheels? If he said that they came from an SS they should be GM. In my opinion being misleading is fraud. Also I guess different people have different views of great. I interpret great to be free from flaws. You know i really don't think Matt is a bad guy. I just think if you sell something and the buyer isn't happy with the condition that the money should be refunded. Yes i should have gotten pics, I was trying to make it easier on him. And about the waiting part. He never said I wouldn't get the rims 11 days later. I had to email him asking what was up. I was cool with waiting until I saw what I was waiting for. I know for a fact that if i sold something on here and the buyer wasn't happy I would refund the money. People work hard for their money and should get what they want.
When asked the condition of the wheels and if they had flaws his answer was not that they had paint peeling. The only reason I put his name up is due to the fact that he wasn't being cooperative. His response was that i bought them and i got what i paid for.

 

I think you should think before you type PhatT/A, nothing you say makes sense, & I don't ussually take sides on other people's sales but the guy made clear of every bad aspect of this sale & you completely ignore it just to defend the other Matt. Let Matt stand up for himself, where is he? He has enough time to sell items but not stand up for himself, I see.

Anyways here is what I think:

- They should have been GM wheels considering they were off his SS as Matt stated, saying its off an SS & the wheels not being GM is called trying to mislead the buyer. Besides if they aren't real GM he should have stated that they are Replicas like any other site states when they sell them new.

- $880 shipped is good deal, not TOP Dollar though, although $880 shipped would be TOP DOLLAR for wheels with flakes. In this case I could care less if its an OK price to pay, the fact that the buyer doesn't want wheels in that condition is what counts.

- The fact that the buyer doesn't like the wheels shows that he's been mislead by the seller, thats why there should be absolutely no reason as to why he wont take them back, unless ofcoarse he indeed tried to get RID of them by lying his A$$ off.

Basicly, Matt's no better then a scammer that doesn't send wheels at all.



PS. Is it me or is it that everyone that gets ripped off is either buying wheels or a Borla Cat-back ?

well I am sorry you feel like that Brandon and Matt as soon as his hospital shifts are done with will be more than happy to talk to you over the phone if he hasnt allready settled this with you over email...he has tried to call you but since you did call using a calling card its a little hard to get ahold of you....whatever number you used is not responding...so he stuck to emails..

he said they came off of his 99SS which they did, he did buy the car used...maybe something happened before he bought it? Who knows? He was honest to tell you they are Zr1 wheels which they are and came off of his 99 SS since he bought it used...he never said true ZR1 sorry...end of story

the wheels are nowhere near as bad shape as you mention...they have a few problems associated with daily usage like any other wheel with them but I believe you were told of those ahead of time....like it was stated before, this is not Walmart....and at the top of this section it says BUYER BUYS AT OWN RISK.....its one of the querks of buying online man...it doesn't justify people ripping people off but I have done ALOT, I mean ALOT of business on this board...HONEST business on this board and I would not risk tainting my reputation by defending someone if they were a crook...


again though after talking to Matt I don't think he will refund you considering everything was clear from the beggining until now...he has no legal obligation to do so and after the brush acts you took against him "being nice" is really not an option ...

I am not the seller here or the buyer and I am trusting Matt since he is a good friend and I have read the emails and made my own opinion over the matter...it doesn't really matter what i think since I didn't make the deal so take it as my 2 cents

I would suggest talking directly to Matt over the phone or email and avoid measures like this that all that they do is fuel arguments and bring in people who have nothing to do with the matter in the first place...

If you read my emails than you know for a fact that i was being completely cool at first. I would probably stick up for my friend too. However, I'm sure that if a seller told you that you were getting rims off a 99SS and that they had kumho supras on them you would want what was talked about. I am not a hard person to deal with, as Matt already knows from our phone conversation. I don't think Matt was going to be a nice guy and do the right thing no matter what I did. The thing is I don't understand how you and Matt act like it is ok to tell someone they are buying one thing and deliver something totally different. If it were your hard earned money I am sure you would be whistling a different tune. I have bought and sold quite a few things on here and have never once had a bad deal until now. Like the guy above said, I think he didn't tell the truth because he wouldn't have sold these rims/tires. And about the walmart thing; Brook said that before he actually read the whole post and then retracted what he said. matt knows how to get ahold of me. He hasn't even responded to my last "friendly" email.
