Your take on an SS hood on a Z28
No, it's not a loser attitude. Unless you are seriously trying to tell everyone you HAVE an SS - then that's immature. Besides, a Z28 is cool enough - maybe the hood is boring
, but it is still a cool car.
SS: Its wicked styling... what can I say.
Btw, I wonder if I have seen you around Surrey cuz I've seen a "charcoal" Z once in a while, and man! that colour is sweet! I think I saw it around Bear Creek Park one time...

Yeah. My cars parked right now. But i live right by Bear Creek. Live in newton.
I like the SS hood, but i remember hearing "its not an SS" so wondering what the camaro boys think about that.
Its not charcaol grey, but thats what best descibes it. It "IS" a GM color that came out in 2000. The guy i bought it off of, had just painted it 2 years ago.
Ill find out pretty quick, b/c im gettin some dents removed and some scratches and some chips repaired.
Look forward to showing up to cruise with you guys sometime soon...

The SS hood itself is VERY nice...no doubt about it. But unfortunately, it has no place on a generic Z28. I cringe every time I see what appears to be an SS driving towards me (judging by the hood) only to find "Z28" badges on it. The SS represents exclusivity and uniqueness...GM won't even sell you an authentic one without proof that you actually own an SS.
Putting an SS hood on a Z28 is like putting Z06 brake vents on a standard C5 or placing the rear fascia of a Cobra Mustang onto a standard GT. There are several options...the SLP Ultra-Z, a cowl-induction, etc. I feel the same way about the SS spoiler. If you add the badging, you're just a poser
.

What if you put silver body panels on your black Z? Oooops, I forgot, you already did that
.(Lemme guess...you're going to say "at least I got an F-Body", right?
)
Personally, the only time I would have an issue with SS or WS6 hoods is if you claim that is what it is and it's not.
I will be putting a 98+ kit on with a WS6 hood as well. BUT I am doing it because I think the 4b generation front ends look better. To me it's like putting on a set of nice rims. It is for appearance, and I want my car to look as nice as possible. I like that look, and I think it works and is not ricey because it is part of a "stock" look and not some excessive body kit.
Personally, I wouldn't put the badging on because it is not a WS6 and I'm not claiming it is. The average joe wouldn't know the difference and would just see it as a really nice looking car. Car enthuisists would pick it apart in no time so there is no point in saying it is something it's not.
but hey... that's just my 2 cents as well.
