This week just keeps on getting worse (possible job opputunity)

Well if you read my other thread, you'd know that I made a stupid mistake and I'm $1500 bucks down the hole. Now I think it's going to be more.

I got a good feeling that this time it's not just the O2, but it's my opti. Now I'm stuck without a car to go to school or work. Now I understand that there's a lot of guys on here that are capable of doing the job, but I also understand that you guys are all probably pretty busy. Now I'd like to get this done ASAP, because being stuck without a car is very inconvinent. I really do not want to go to the dealership because it is going to cost me an arm and a leg, and the body shop is costing me the other arm and the other leg. So I'd much rather pay the money to a board memeber instead. So please let me know, I know there's a lot of you on here that can this no problem, so please help me out.

Ok guys, I don't know how much worse this week can get, thursday on my way to the body shop, my engine started studdering and struggling. I do not have the money to fix both (the body and whatever engine problem) right now so it looks like I'm going to go with the quick fix and just get them to fix the fender first. Thanks for everyone's help.
(from Jack's other post) Could be the coil or a wire got fried. Might not be the Opti.

Well I've had a coil problem in the past before. I remember for that, it's when I hit the gas hard and it would pop and stuff.

Todd suggested that it could be wires and plug and something might of came lose when I hate that damn curb. I prayed that he's right. But Payam suggested that plugs and wire would effect more in the higher rpm's.

The situation right now is that when i acclerate gently, every thing seems fine, but right when I get to about 60 km/h, the car would start studdering and struggle to get to the higher rpm, i would then have push the gas pedal in harder, and then there would be like a 1 second delay where it studders a bit more and then off i go as if i accelerated as normal. When I'm crusing after that, everything is fine, once i slow down again at the light, the car shakes like crazy (o2 symptoms). When i accelerate, the same things happens again. Strange thing is, after a little while, when I come to a stop again, it'll start to shake, but then the car will lunge forward slightly (even though i'm on the brakes) and then the shaking stops.

At first I was hoping it was the 02's again, but this time around, there's no engine light what so ever, and the shakiness of the car, rpm, etc is a lot worse.

Check simple stuff first. Look for fried wires best time to do this is at night. Keep your ebrake on and fire up the car in a dark area this is so your headlights dont turn on. Pop the hood and look at all the wires and look for arcing. If you have a bad wire you should be able to easily see the flicker of the arcing around the wires. IF you have stock wires pop of the coil wire at the coil and the opti and look for corrosion they are prone to corroding at the wires. If none of those applies i would start by popping a good coil in next borrow one off of someone i am sure there is someone local who has a good coil kicking about. The optis in these cars arent as bad as everyone presumes and that would be one of the last things i checked into if the rest proove fine.
Anyways check that out then post back with what you find. Also a list of what you ahve done jack might be helpful in looking for probs so list what mods you have if any
Later
Mike

Ok I will check for those tonite. I sure hope your right Mike, about the wire and coil since that is a lot easier to fix.

Anywayz, I belive I have Taylor (8mm?) wires, as well as a MSD Blaster Coil. I've had the corrosion of the coil problem before and this feels nothing like it though. The list of remaining mods should be in the sig.

Nope, no sparks or fireworks with the wires.
However I did heard some umm..I don't know, something sort of like air leaking out of liquid or something sort of noise from maybe the EGR tube? not sure, very very minor noise right after I turn off the car.

Thank you Shaun, I really appericate that, but now it just comes down to finding out the problem and going about fixing it. Now I'm positive that it's not the wires nor the O2's. I really don't know what a bad opti's feels like but if it is, is the opti a big job? Cause I really need to get back on the road. I really really don't want to take it to a dealership.

Ok Mike, I'll take a look at the coil. What's the ignition module?

Ok, so today I took the coil and wire apart. The coil looks fine, no corrosive stuff or anything like my old stock one. One end of the wire looked..I dunno, damaged..i think. Anywayz, I replaced it with my old stock coil wire, plugged everything backed in, went for a drive.

It seemed that whenever i punched the gas, there would be a pop, and then the car would go. When I got home, I heard sparking, so I popped the hood open, sure enough I see some fireworks by the coil.

Now my question is, could that be caused by the stock coil wire, or could it be that the coil crapped out? (The tip of the coil looked perfectly normal)

The ignition module is the thing the coil is mounted on. It's got heat dissipating fins on it.

My MSD coil crapped out after 10k
