Starting to look like the 80s again around here

Well, in order to even attempt aircare I had to stuff a Qjet on my car, no way to make that big holley work. Well I promptly found out that the Qjet will not fit under my hood. So I grabbed a junk Z28 hood I have laying around and PRESTO we time warped back the 80s. http://www.freephoto-i.net/browse.ph...cture_id=37616 and http://www.freephoto-i.net/browse.ph...cture_id=37618
. I was gonna stuff a velocity stack I have on but I didnt have enough ready rod to hold it down with. I should left the back of my hair long when I got it cut yesterday huh? Anyhow, the Qjet is on, and I will try the whole emmisions thing on monday. The Qjet isnt enough carb for this engine though, Runs outta fuel too quick and I cant tweak it too much because its # correct for a 69 corvette and I know a guy who has a #s matching 69 vette except for a POS autolite carb on it. In other words the camaro is slower AND ugly than before. Damn emmisions. Cant wait to get that gas pig of a holley back on.

Ya bunker, I know my car has potential (more than a 4th gen cause I can bolt in a big block :P ). Just sure looks and drives like **** here today. Sleepybu, my car really likes fuel, and lots of it. In reality I have too much dynamic compression so I use lots of fuel to help keep it from detonating with a good amount of timing. I have a 750dp (a 4779) that was at one point HEAVILY modified for racing. Its been de-tuned a lot but I you cannot undo some of the idle issues. Next on the to do list is EFI though. GEtting sick of having to fiddle with carbs all the time. I prefer to drive, not tinker.
Cheers,
CoryM

Kind of wierd that everyone has to go through aircare at the same time.

When I get my car back from the paint shop I have to go through. The car hasn't been able to pass for quite awhile, but I'm hoping some upgrades I've done will help (ignition, plugs, etc).

Wish me luck.

I'm so glad I don't have to do that aircare crap this year......I'm good till next year.
I think I'll just get day permits anyhow, I won't need aircare then.......

Well I made it through this morning. Only cost me 2 tests and a heater core (it barfed on the dyno). Im pretty happy. I passed by 0.03% CO at idle . Thats too close and thats as good as it gets. The bad news is that something in my rear suspension has let go. I think one of the poor shackle bushings finally spat out. I will have to look tommorow. If thats what it is I will stuff the 4.56 posi in while Im there . Time to find out how good my tranny/driveshaft are.

That gearset sounds like tonnes of fun!

As far as things sounding like they 'let' go... i get huge clunks come out of the rear end when i'm under hard cornering with the throttle cranked. It's just early technology. yeah, yeah, that's it. :-) Ignore it and it'll go away.

Did that happen on the aircare test bed?

Heh, Ryan, my rear end is wandering all over the place. Not just making noises . No, it didnt get loose from the dyno. Its been loose for a while, just not this bad. Its just time to do it I guess. Cant wait to have 2wd instead of just 1wd .

If your springs are weak and need a cheap replacement, let me know. I have a set of WS6 TA ones that i don't think i'm going to install.
