Shops for Engines Swaps

Anyone know any shops that are reliable in doing a engine swap. I'm thinkin of throwin a LT1 in the firebird with a few upgrades to the engine. I've gotta get a lot of parts together but nothing too major. I'm in no real hurry as I want to get the engine, buy some after market parts for it and put it in when it's all ready to go. The only thing that confuses me is wiring up the pcm's and what not. I'll be doing more research into it but I know labour will be pretty pricey. Any good deals out there?

I mean this with great respect but you are definately swimming against the tide with this idea.

You will save TONS of money and time by just selling the V6 car, throwing in an extra $3k or so and get a V8 car.

If you are so inclined, then mod the V8.

Yeah I'm going through the buysell right now. This is probably the better route. Going to go check out a 96 T/A in the automall after work. After doing some more reading, the swap seems like a pain.

actually its not that hard if you have a donor car or similar. the dash wiring harness is the same if not very similar to the lt1 dash harness. you get a 97 and below pcm, engine harness, the dash harness will plug into it. you get a lt1 k member, with the few locals that have tubular k members installed it shouldnt be too hard to find one cheap, i have three at my house. you run the lt1 fuel lines, its still a fourth gen its not like the floor boards are entirely different. hell people swap these into third gens fairly easy. you use a lt1 rad, its still the same rad support. its pretty straight forward and cheap if you know what your doing and have accesible parts. the only thing you will have to do is swap to a 94-97 cluster as the 98 and up clusters wont work right.

I have to agree with 97TA-WS6-Con, I had a 97 V6
camaro last year & was thinking about doing the same
thing. I think it was cheaper & easier to just sell the
V6 camaro & buy the V8, there are alot more mods you
can do with the LT1. But that's just my opinion lol.

Cheers!!

I checked out the 96 trans am at the automall. Had a Ram Air hood but not the highrise spoiler and no ttops. I thought all T/A's had the highrise spoiler besides the convertible ones. I really would like a T/A 98 or up. If it's pre 98 I don't know if I would want a trans am or camaro.

Ozone, did you trade your V6 in or sell privately?
