shifting problems (with an auto lol)

ok... my car just decides to keep revving unless i release the gas. wont shift too easily usually problem from 2nd to 3rd, ie i was at the line with a new mustang gt, had quite a bit on him...suddenly my car stops accellerating.... it does this every now and then... i know i have to change the seal on my differential cuz of a minor leak.... now im thinking... time for changing gears or tranny problem??

zman, if the tranny won't shift into third, try moving the shifter from the second position to the third (D)! I have done this several times with great success!..... and yes, it is time for changing gears!

Sounds like you might have a problem with the valve body...

If it is its not too bad they can fix it or replace it without even pulling the tranny!

While their in there might as well get a shift kit and corvette servo put in!

Hey Zaid, does this happen only when you punch it? Or does it happen when your doing regular driving too?

Time for a Tranny Re-Build

Check your tranny fluid first

This was happening to me almost 2 years ago, shortly after getting my car. It got worse until the tranny would make a horrible noise when going into 2nd at anything over 1/3 throttle. I changed the fluid and filter and it didn't make a difference unfortunately. Took it in and had a new tranny put in under warranty.

I would change your fluid and filter asap. My car hesitated when shifting into 2nd at WOT the other day. I will be changing my fluid and filter very soon. I also have a tranny cooler I am going to put in.

Does it backfire or pop when this happens?

Same thing happened to me a year or so back, I thought I was gonna have to rebuild the tranny, turns out it was just the coil. Hope this is the case, good luck.

Yeah, definately check the ingnition components as well: wires, plugs, coil. When I first got my car it didn't want to go over 150km/h. It felt like a rev limiter in there. New plugs fixed that...

Ok Jack enough out of you, you were hitting a majical rev limitier that wasn't a rev limiter, you're tranny wasn't shifting cuz you never reached the preset shifting RPM due to your misfire.

i think i shud be changing the fluid soon so ill have that done... and as for the poping sound nope, doesnt doo that unless the revs are really high and i tap the gas... for normal driving its completely fine just those odd times when i need to punch it..plugs were just changed the wires were check at the same time.... ill take it to gm for normal service neways and c what they say...
