Nah. SES is emissions related only, so nothing serious. Likely bad gas or something minor fouling the intake. How old is the gas in the tank?

Off the top of my head, I can't recall how to clear the code. It involves one of the fuses, but I can't recall which. I can clear it with ATAP if you're at Shaun's tomorrow.

Your sure its JUST emmisions?? I dunno if LS1's are that much different then LT1's, but our SES lights have a ton of codes, barely any of which are JUST emmisions related...

I'd be much more interested in finding out WHAT the code is then clearing it.

But yes, checking it out at Shawn's place tomorrow will tell alot

I wouldn't worry tho Twitch... These cars are finicky... One minute they'll flash a code, and the next its gone I'd leave it alone until its checked (As in, don't bother clearing it, disconnect the battery, or pull a fuse) and you can tell what the code is... Chances are its nothing...

At least for Ls1s 98% of the problem is emmissions only for SES lights. Usually bad gas, a loose sensor on th MAF, etc. Its the other warning light you need to worry about.

However, finding out what code is being thrown would be wise. Unless its obvious like 2 month old gas in the tank.

id check to see if your gas cap is screwed on all the way. believe it or not, it will make the ses come on, cuz its a pressurized tank, and some of the pressure will trip it. my dads lumina and buick regal gs had the same problem, the buick was under warranty and it came on, we took it in and the gm techs took a whole day to figure it out, it was only the gas cap, cuz some stupid gas attendant didnt screw it on properly!! they put it on all the way and the light went out id put my bet on that lol its more commom then ya think, it happend to both cars!

Instructions on How to Reset the LS1 ECM
Submitted by: Scott Harroff

This is intended to reset that aggravating 'Service Engine Soon' light so many of us seem to see. The light is normally set due to a loose gas cap or a high frequency error on the mass air flow sensor in front of the intake manifold. If the light persists, you may want to have you car checked by a GM dealer. It may be a good idea to remove your K&N air filter, and replace it with the stock filter or equivalent before your visit to the dealer. Dealers, in the past, have been known to blame the MAS error on excessive oil in the K&N leaking onto the MAS. If the fuses aren't removed in this procedure, the codes will be stored in the ECM until the fuses are removed, or the dealer clears them with a scan tool. Rumors have it that stored codes retard timing and spark ignition which will hender the performance of you LS1.

1. Turn key on but don't start car.
2. Pull PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Turn ignition off.
5. Replace fuses.

It will take the car a while to relearn the fuel and timing curves so don't worry about a temporary performance loss.

Wow , lots of good info . I did just get gas and I did try in 92 instead of 94 so lose cap / bad gas is very possible Im going to take it by work and see if I cant get the snapon scantool to conect to the pcm and tell me whats going on .

Uh Oh , what other warning light Its the one that looks like a lil motor in the top right corner of the display

I was talking to my buddie whos the mechanic at my work about installing my cam and was seriously thinking of spraying my motor with the vcn2000 Venom kit . . . . . funny how as soon as the light went on I just realized how much I love my LS1 in one peice

Thanks for all the help guys

try the gas cap, all it takes is 2 sec to turn it on all the way, if the light goes off in like 5 sec or so, then its all good!

I think crappy gas was the culptrit . I always fill up at the same station in town and that night I went to a different cheveron . The light stayed on until I used up the fuel and added gas from my regular station .

Thanks again for the help
