Raced 03 Cobra

Just got back from running a brand new white convertable 03 cobra mustang Very nice car and super nice driver . Anyways I see him trying to get up to me in traffic so I let him and we catch a light . Im like " sweet car what year " hes like " 03 " Im like awsome . Anyways I said Id give a try so we went and he slaugtered me outa the hole , I mean a full car lenghth Bt I was realing him in hard at the end and everytime he changed gears Id gain 3 ft . We hit traffic before I could pass but I was going to for sure , no doubt . Now heres the catch , I WASNT SPRAYING !! My bottle is pouched , this was just motor . Near as I can tell he was shifting WAY too soon and the weight difference was pretty good , 03 vert is about 3800 lb pluss his passenger . I guarantee I could have beat him . He was super cool , we parked and talked cars and I showed him the bottle , he agreed for a rematch but couldnt do it just then . I will slice him up on the bottle ( provided he doesnt mod to death )

Thumbs up

Wow. That's good to pull on him like that. You are certain he was an 03? If so, then I think you may be right that he had a full load and has a few things to learn about racing.

Way to go in showing him what a NA LS1 is capable of. May not be a win, but if you were pulling on him, you likely made him nervous... maybe even twitch.

Yup he rolls around maple ridge and hes east indian or something . Its for sure an 03 , I checked under the hood . He got the bounce on me outa the hole bigtime , but that was all . Im not scared of these cars one bit anymore , I was fully expecting to get trounced !! To think , if it were Chris or Payam this guy would have been owned . If I had my bottle filled he would have gotten SLICED !! With mods it will be deadly fast but it must be HEAVY and Ive got no headers or cam yet . I cant wait to run him again , I told him I want a full length run cause I cant launch for crap , so full 1/4 . I couldnt beleive . fwiw he told me 400 to the ground . I heard they put 360 - 380 stock so I dont know if hes had it dynoed yet . It still seems like he would put down enough more to kill me but maybe his power under the curve sucks or something , cant remeber what 03 cobras graphs look like . Either way Im happy .

my raceweight is 3670 # ( me in ) less cause I scaled with the bottle full and just shy of half tank , I ran him with a 1/4 . so probably 3650 #

His would be ruffly 3800 + 200 + 150 = 4150 #

Whatcha think ??

hehe .. four words of wisdom .. never fear a mustang

those things are WAY to heavy to be fast ... i know of one that dynoed ~400 rwhp and traps 112 mph

id love to run one of the modded ones on and off the bottle .. that would be fun

Funny thing is I got the feeling he didnt want to go again I meen , he said he did want to sometime but I kinda wanted to go THEN because I knew If it were the same situation with open road and a better dig I would have pulled him .

This is going to sound super stupid , but I bought new shoes and roasted my clutch with them the other day when racing a mustang They were getting cought under my dash and I wasnt releasing the freaking clutch all the way but couldnt tell . I mean I really cooked it . Its fine now , no slip at all but Im still timid when I slip it out of the hole , hense the boging launch . I know I know the guys at work laughed at me too but I cant feel **** through them there like boots . . . I miss my old faithfull beat up Vans ( I still beat the mustang ) Either way I cant launch worth crap , shoes or boots or anything really !!

yeah the guy does like to tell stories sometimes so i wouldnt doubt it if he was lying about the horsepower cause ive never seen any that high stock, and i know his is. also i know hes not that good at shifting as well.

The new 03 supercharged Mustangs are rated at 385hp from Ford. Thats not to say the numbers are a little conservative, But I would say that it's under 400hp at the flywheel stock with no mods.

He was saying " to the ground " which I know was very very highly estimated . It sounded badass but just didnt pull hard at all for anywhere near those digits .

actually the Cobra is under-rated. they are making around 370-380 to the wheels stock - thats a fair bit more then 400 at the flywheel.
