Question about my intake (hard to explain)

I have a question about the intake tract on my 1996 WS6. The question I have is that the pipe connecting the air box/MAF to the intake doesn't go straight in...kind of "kinked" on a downward slope. The airbox looks like it sits too high. Is this normal (I have changed a few things...TB, heads, cam etc) because it doesn't look like a straight shot at the intake? I put it back together the way it came from the factory and I'm not missing any parts aswell.
