Question about 98+ TA taillights

Hey everyone, I'm doing a 98+ body upgrade on my 94 TA. I was looking for the taillights on ebay, and I noticed that some of the taillights are all red and honeycombd, and some are red and then have an orange section right before the reverse lights. is this a difference in years, or a difference in firebird vs trans am?
Thanks !!!

Mine look the same as bunkers and as far as 98+ tail lights go I thought they were all the same. Shouldn't have a problem looking at matts even if you're trying to race him.

Starting in 1998, all tailights are honeycombed and the reverse lights were moved. 93-97 birds have 2 different styles, v6's have the all red ones and lt1's have the black lines across them. 98 and up are all honeycomb. Any years are interchangable.

Thumbs up

I'm guessing the "orange" is just the way the light (maybe from the flash) is hitting them. All '98 and up taillights (whether you have a V6 Firebird, a Formula or Trans Am) are the same, the honeycomb style, totally red, with the round backup lens toward the centre. The '98 style will fit the '93-'97 cars with no problems. One thing to check, though, is the number of bulbs: the '98 and up cars have four bulbs: reverse, 1 brake, 1 turnsignal, and a small running lamp at the far end. I'm not sure how many bulbs are in the '93-'97 cars.

I agree, I think it's from the camera flash. One thing though if you decide to change out the tail lights, get brigther bulbs as well.

You notice that just the rear of our tailights get lit up at night. The part that wraps around to the side of the car doesn't. I used to know these bulb numbers but have forgotten them. I'll try to find them again for you.

im 99% sure thats just the light reflecting it, also if your doing the taillight swap you may want to swap the harness with a ls1 one as well, the bulbs for that harness is much brighter. with my lt1 harness ive had cops ask me if i had blackouts on em. but theyll bolt right up without any problems, same number of bulbs, etc.

Thanks guys, I did go ahead and buy them. If they really are orange I guess I'll put them back on ebay for some other doofus . As for the harness, any idea where I could get one Roy?

The orange I belive was an overseas style, they had orange sections for turn signals because in Europe you MUST have orange turn signals.
