Well, I am currently driving a 70 C10. 4300lbs, carbed 350ci, auto with 3.08 gears and bias ply tires (really ****ty rolling resistance). I would guess I am around 11mpg or so in it if I drive gentle. Will be better when I pull of this big ole holley and get the stock Qjet back on. Since when do we care about mpg? More power is always better. Hell, I was driving the camaro at 9mpg at best on 94 octane at about $.90-.99/L. Having said that, I dont think driving a performence car every day is smart. Hi perf engines/trans hate being driven cold etc. Easier and cheaper to drive the hell out of a beater than a fun car. Then drive the **** out of the weekend car on sunny days . Besides, beaters are fun in their own ways.
If you want gas prices to come down the only way is to make it so we can buy canadian oil at lower than world prices. I believe as part of the free trade deal we have to sell oil to america for the same price as here. Problem with that is that the oil co. sell more oil to the americans than us so they raise our prices in order to make more $$ off the americans. Lower our prices, and gouge the americans. Seems simple to me .
