People mistaking your car for another type?

Just the other day, I ran into this this lady I've known for a long time but haven't seen for a bit, while driving my car in the neighbourhood. It was the first time she'd seen my car. First thing she does is compliments it and then asks me if its a "Ferrari". I tell her, "No, it's a Camaro" and she's like "Wow! Really? I can't believe it. I don't remember Camaros like that."

Funny enough, this is about the third or fourth person that has asked me if this was a Ferrari or some other exotic.

Naturally this is always from a person (a woman always) who doesn't really follow cars, so doesn't know one model from the next, but DOES know what she likes. And it's funny how many people assume that its a $200K car.

Has anyone else had this occur or similar?

Its flattering but weird.

I've only had one person think my car was a Ferarri. The kid was 10 years old and just visiting here from Portugal. I could see how he didn't know what a Camaro was since they dont have Muscle cars in Europe.

One thing I do get a lot is little kids saying, "Nice Firebird!"

I remember this one time I am at a light and this woman pulls up next to my ride and says, "that is a pretty truck". I've hated my ride ever since.

I've gotten many TransAms from cops and grown ups

and for some reason everyone things my white one is an SS

I think the only other thing my car has been called is a Camaro. That's bad enough.

I do get "So how's your Firebird (or Trans Am) running nowadays Chris?" every once a while.

Don't know if I'm being teased or what on that.

Very few people would recognize my Probe as a Probe. They often thought it was Italian but beyond that...... (For those that never saw the Probe GT, It was lowered and de-badged with a custom candy paint job. It would take a trained eye to know it was a Probe)

I also had the Corvette fuel rail covers on it last year. A few kids would say to Dad...."Wow Dad, it has a Corvette engine in it". "Yes son, that would be a lot of work" LOL

Yeah I've gotten that before too. People that don't know a lot about cars usually think it's an exotic.

Mine's been called a vet before from a few people, some guy today said "zoom zoom", I said it's not an import. Most say "what's a firehawk?" I get mega compliments everytime I turn the key.
