O2 logs from track - .995 to 1.000 ?

Had a weird experience with the autotap logs I was getting at the track. I was only looking at a few factors to check for Knock, so I only had KR, TPS, rpm, mph, and timing. I also logged one of my O2 sensors (B1S1), just for curiousity and reference - I didn't expect anything odd, so I just ran one sensor.

It came up with an O2 reading of .995 to 1.000 for my runs, which surprised the hell out of me. I have never seen anything other than .910 to .940, depending on the tune, in over 100 logs on the street. That would indicate to me that I was running massively rich as the pcm was dumping fuel into the engine.

I logged runs the day before and they were normal (.930 or so). I also ran logs on the way home from the track, and they were perfectly normal too (.930).

Any idea what could account for such skewed readings? I'm wondering if that was hurting my times at all 9 could be, being that pig rich). Timing looked as usual, at 23-28 through the rpm range. No KR either.

Yeah I think I had the same thing????? Maybe the car was in open loop. Meaning it didn't reach operating temperature before the run.

Hmmm. I'm not sure. Maybe it's nothing to worry about then?

The O2s went from .910-.920 to about .935-.955. I guess that dropped AFR by 0.4 or so (real rough guess).

With my tuning though, the leanest I can get it to go is .935 before I get KR. Considering most guys shoot for .880-.910, that does give some indication to me that O2's cannot be trusted fully. I will try and dyno in 2 weeks and get a proper AFR.

Depends on the cam/heads, some cams like to have more fuel then others, needless to say if the car was in open loop that wouldn't make a difference, yet on your LS1 you have temperature relation for your PE tables, if you have had a real cold car & got an alteration in there, you can just zero that table out & see. Also, I'm not sure but if you were staging at the lanes & say your o2s were reading a bit on the lean side & at that moment you floored the gas pedal that difference would be carried over, thats how it work on LT1s, have to check on the LS1s by logging cuz I haven't seen that carry over option with LS1s.

Matt.
