Never helping out someone again

Dang I cant beleive I was screwed by someone on this board. Anywho the guy was having problems with his car & He needed T-tops.
My husband offered to change his starter for him if he just went to get the part.
So he brought the car over My husband changed the starter & Then he went home still having problems with his car We went to where he lives to finish fixing it. Which made us late for our car club meeting. (well Not late we still made it in time for the Elections)
I thought I was being nice since his pax side t-top was totally busted I told him to go a head & take ours just pay me later. Well that was in NOV. now its the middle of Feb & have I seen the Money??? Heck no. He keeps putting me off. now I havent even heard from him.
Everytime he logs on to MSN when I am on he logs right back off.

Man Never again Tired of getting screwed by people.

Most ppl are like that, very few ppl on this board acctually appreciate the effort, very few. Most just remember you when its in their best interest.

For the most part up here in our area there are WAAAYYYYYYY more GOOD stories of peeps helping peeps then bad stories but it is always disappointing to hear when it happens because it could happen to anyone of us.

That being said, one has to sow to be able to reap and whenever I possably can I try to ADD to the communal pool of goodwill so that I don't feel guilty when I ask to draw from the communal pool.

Candidly I still think I owe given the help I have received from SOOO many people, but in my way I have also contributed to help others and what goes around comes around. If EVERYONE adopted a similar attitude and did not keep score, then I think everyone would be happier.

On balance I think there is a very good sense of community up here and notwithstanding the odd "misunderstanding" I hope that everyone tries to add to the community and not get cynical. There are many guys here (Matt, Payam, Mike S.) and many others who are indeed in a net credit to the account.

EDIT: Whoops I MUST give credit to Cory because without him the car would never have hit the road last year. Seriously, I'm not joking.

Peace out.

(I hope I get to die quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not screaming in terror like his passengers)

There's no doubt that this is the case often times. People (mistakenly) seem to feel more anonymous when dealing over the net, and I am continually disappointed when I see someone bust their *** to help out, then get nothing in return.

But, I have seen the other side too where I am amazed at how GENEROUS some of the people on this board are. Maybe its because they like working on cars, or are good people, etc... (to name but one is Cory M., who I have found real generous with his knowledge/time, and I know there are others).

Hopefully in the end people like you (krazycowgirl) will get more good experiences rather than negative ones - what goes around, comes around . For good or for bad.

It was a guy down here Near Olympia He has a v6 Red 3rd gen. Thats why I had extra t-tops for it because my husbands 87 Iroc (not mine) was totalled 3yrs ago. We stripped the parts before shipping it to a junk yard.

I am so use to dealing with the guys in the Camaro club. Heck if you need help they help you out. Just ask Ellis. There have been times at the track that Dan(my husband) & I have walked up to him about problems with my husbands car (his 95). If you buy something from someone in the club they have the money up front or with in a few days. I have never felt cheated by a Club memeber.

Well since he never posted in this area. Just the 3rd gen & v6 tech heres his online name.

You can do a search & see that I helped him out alot.

My sympathies to ya krazycowgirl, but dont let the idiots out there harden you or change ur good nature, then they win. We've only exchanged random bits of post info, but I can tell u & Dan are good peeps, so stick to ur principals.
97TA-WS6 & several other guys hit the nail on the head when they say wot goes around comes around. I live by positive karma, not an organized religous man, but I know there are forces of good & forces of, shall we say, a less then constructive nature.
Sometimes wotz hard is not being able to see the big picture.....but then every once in a while.......
I was headed north on I-205 the other day, rush hour, traffic thicker than molasses, almost a dead stop & there's some gomer blowin by everyone on the super long on-ramp, even when the ramp ended, merged, he kept on going on the shoulder for almost a quarter mile before cutting in in front of us "regular folk". I was pizzed, as I'm sure were about 50 other people. Just as I'm starting my usual rant about idiots being allowed to drive, the car right behind me, a 4 door chrysler sebring or something, pulls out onto the shoulder & goes after him.......then all the red & blue strobes behind his tinted glass go off!!! We were all laffing as we went by him. The cop, obviously un-amused, was just tearing into the guy, arms waving, pointing etc! I'm thinking an agressive driving ticket in Wa is big $$'s these days.
It doesnt play out like that very often, right in front of your eyes, but every once in a while you see it at work, then you know, good things (in general) happen to good people, bad things happen more often to bad people....and no, it doesnt make you a bad person if something bad happens to you once in a while, thats just a reminder of how much worse it could be if u werent makin positive contributions to the world!
Enough of my amatuer philosophy!
Peace!
Ian

Just for the record, I've been done right by MANY people on Team NW, and the PNWCC. I thought my situation was normal for the most part, but it looks like I may have just gotten lucky.

That said, there have been one or two people I know that are guilty of only "taking" without paying back a favor when it was needed.

Personally, I'm always willing to help out when I can and I know most of the team operates with the same philosophy. As for sales? I can honestly say I've never tried to "take" another enthusiast... although apparently this isn't standard fair.

Sorry to hear 'bout your situation. Hopefully it will resolve itself soon.
