Liens? Is this possible?

I found one Camaro I am extremely interested in however the owner is still making payments on it. Is there a way to get it in writing so that the money I pay him for the car has to be used to pay it off or is this not possible? Or is there any other way around this?

why dont you make the check payable to the bank? you can also go to a notary public and get a contract made up.

Yea, never thought of that. The easiest would be making the ammount payable to whoever his loan is with. How much work is involved with writing up a contract? Thanks for the advice.

just go see a notary public they should be able to sort it out. or if he has a bank loan the both of you make a appointment with the bank and go in and im sure the bank will have a contract for a situation.

I bought my car with the owner still owing money. When we wrote up the bill of sale we stated that the car would be free of all liens at the time of purchase and before I sent him a cheque I made sure to get a receipt from his bank showing that he had paid off the balance. Also, the cheque was made out to both the owner and his bank.

It's really quite simple, good luck!
