Insurance costs

This is just a minor venting thread about f-body insurance. I haven't been quoted yet for this year, but I can guess the amount a 1-year policy will cost. Here's a comparison. Keep in mind I'm a roadstar gold (15+) and have all the security discounts.

Insurance Price for 1 year:
2000 - $1437.00
2001 - $2030.00
2002 - $2600.00 (expected)

Does this remind anyone of the early 70's? What a joke. Nearly 100% increase in 2 years.

Rising insurance costs are part of the reason I only insure my ride for 5 months of the year.........I would love to insure it all year round what with the great weather we've seen of late, but I have 2 other vehicles which require all year round insurance.
The money's just not there.............

Yeah, I only insure for 6 or 7 months with the occassional TOP.

But it's terrible. You notice in the other thread that I think Ollie started how few kms most of us really drive. They really need an insurance plan that takes into account low mileage vehicles, rather than charging everyone full goose. In addition to one that truly reflects the individual's driving behaviour and not based on the theoretical 'dangerous' nature of our vehicles. It would be more fair to us, though I could see that ICBC would earn a lot less revenue as a result.

Seriously, 2 years ago I used to laugh when people said that insurance rates were too high on our cars. And if you look at what I paid 2 years ago, the rates weren't that bad. Only a little more than your typical minivan. But this year, now we have something to be mad about.

Feel sorry for the young guys with little discount.

If you're the only driver of the vehicle and you have 10 years experience, you'll get another discount... I think I got 200-300 off because of that.
That discount is on top of the roadstar discount...

That's not a bad idea! I only drove my car for 2017Km this last summer.........not sure how many days it took to do that but I'll have to sit down and figure out if it'll be cheaper to insure by the day............thanx!

No probs, it sure works out cheaper for me, infact some weekends it rains & I don't want to drive the car anyways so I save that way too plus the rates never go up on a 1 day permit, its always 25$ for 1 day & $37 for 2 days & you can hide the permit papers, not put one on the front & hide the back on so its kinda showing & behind the tint, & if you accidently go through a yellow & it turns red & the damb camera takes a snap shot of your car, there will be no plates or anything to really look at.

I wonder how many people it would take, doing the day permits on their summer cars, for Icky Bicky to start losing money..........
If everyone only insured there cars/trucks on the days that you needed them ICBC may be forced to lower their rates...........it would take a hell of a lot of voices though.
I have 2 other cars, both of which I need to have insured everyday.
It sure would be nice if a person could do the day permits over the Net and print out the paper to stick on the cars..........mabye in the future..........
