Installing SFC's and STB
Installing SFC's and STB
I'm looking for someone who can help me get my SLP bolt-on SFC's and Hotchkis STB installed by next saturday. I'll be autocrossing at UBC with Amit and it's crucial that I get these two suspension mods installed before the 9th. My f-body wont stand much of a chance without these mods. Black Robe who's helped me before and let me use his garage is busy during the week working so I'm looking at plan B. I've never installed these pieces before but it couldn't be too hard or time consuming. Just need some rhino ramps to hoist her up and someone with a little experience in this area. Any help will be truely appreciated, thanks guys.
Won't stand a chance without those mods? What is really going to hold you back is your driving skill. I guarantee you that you will not come close to your car's showroom stock potential on your first time out.
One other thing - the Strut tower brace will place you into Super Stock, and the subframe connectors will bump you into the Street Prepared class. In E/SP You are going to be racing with the same handicap (PAX) as the fully prepped, race rubber wearing Mustangs that regularly take fastest time of day honors.
Good luck

I agree with Craig , its freaking tricky . The hardest part by far is staying orientated on the track . Its such a maze it takes 95 % of your concentration just finding the next hole to drive through let alone perfecting your line . I found my self constantly getting lost on the track and just reacting at the last minute and trying to correct . Its also alot more violent than I had anticipated and the helmet doesnt help as it distances you from the sound of your car . Lotsa fun though .
Yeah Steve, those guys are quite right, you'll need to spend time 'bustin' cones rather than installing those pieces. Sorry I can't help during the week. Do you have a helmet yet? I have a fat head (7 3/4") and a Snell 95 Bell Magnum IV open face ("SA" -Auto vs Motorcycle) in perfect shape that will not be legal for road race next year. I'll be getting a new Snell 2000 helmet this winter and you can save a bundle taking this one off my hands!
Thanks Larry for offering up the helmut. I'll have too buy one for next year so I'll check-out yours. My buddy is offering up his helmut for this sunday. They say to come early and walk through the course to get to know it first. I'm a little concerned about cone marks on the hawk.
They say 95% of the marks will rub right off. The hawk is going into the paint shop for a little touching up before my insurance runs out on the 20th. Can't stand those nasty little rock chips.
Amit, call my soon to discuss where we will meet up sunday.
