Only one question..... Where were the muscle cars?
Sorry, but our cars just plain arent muscle cars. Fun yes, fast hell ya but muscle cars they arent. I do think however that we should have an Fbody club rather than a GM club. Then if we want a bigger event we invite the vancouver stangers or whomever. We already have around 30 cars right? We havent even begun to advertize so Im sure we can expect a lot more Fbodys.
Just throwing ideas out there.

I agree with Blue 79 as well.
I think it would be a good idea to start another type of club with newer muscle cars. There are already a lot of older car clubs.
How about a Modern Muscle Car Club or MMCC

Import or sport compact cars are mainly newer vehicles. I think it would be cool to have the same sorta deal with newer domestics.

Cool video but gay music, also our cars aren't muscle cars thats for sure, firebird like the 79 are muscle cars but everything after that is no longer considered muscle, I wonder what the Convertible Firebirds/camaros are, they aren't Pony cars.

Actually the muscle cars of the late 60's would do well to hit the 13's! Add to that, they didn't have near the handling, the flawless acceleration, and the fuel economy of the cars of today.

If you have a car that hit's 14's, you own a muscle car! If you happen to be fortunate enough to own a car that hit's the 13's on street tires, you own a true muscle car.

If your car achieves 12's on street tires, that is absolutely wild!

Personally, I think that we own muscle cars as well. They concept of our cars has changed a lot but the essentials are there. V8's and rear wheel drive. True, that the change from carburated to Fuel Injected was probably one of the biggest distinguishing factors(IMO) btwn the "muscle car era" and the birth of our cars. From what I recall, the muscle car era was born with the evolutioin of a real pwer house V8 and low oil prices. It "disappeared" with the rise in oil prices in the laet seventys and lead to EFI. I think this is how it was. I probably have some facts messed up but this is how I see it.

F-Body's are actually quite unique because our breed didn't "sell-out" to the same degree of Mustangs for example. The basic platform didn't change in our cars, yet late-model Mustangs can be purchased with independent rear suspensions. F-Body's have always been rear-wheel drive and naturally aspirated...the same does NOT hold true for our Ford counterparts. We STILL use a pushrod engine and until 1998, used an iron block with iron heads. Tradtional muscle cars maybe...but definitely modern-day muscle cars.

Armen, you're right about the pony car designation...in the last two decades there has been a resurgence in the horsepower race as manufacturers were trying to crams as many "ponies" under the hood as possible.

Typhoon, you're comparing apples and oranges. Muscle cars back in the day had on average MORE torque, MORE weight, and a relatively poorer suspension. Factor in the fact that since then there has been over 50 years of car research development and design and you'll realize that the "difference" is actually minimal.
