I'm BAAAAAACK.

Well as of THIS moment, the Mongoose is back and ready to show off.

I put the blower belt on and Rash came around tonight. Now that it appears that all the hardware is working right, he made some rather extreme changes to the tune.

On the one hand, there seems to be some question with respect to "normal" tuning results. Meaning the car is running REALLY nicely but the VE MAPS are very high and the air fuel ratio is saying 9 - 10 which is too rich.

BUT the results are not saying the same. Its not burning black out the back, we pulled a plug and it was the right colour and it is smooth and pulls like a freight train.

I have to call FAST tomorrow to have a chat about this apparant inconsistancy.

But, MY does it pull. I made one quick blast through second into third and I was taken aback at the way the third gear threw me back in the seat. Now having said that, I have been running around with inly 335 rwhp the last few weeks. nonetheless, i made Rash a little nervous.

I'm not sure I'm ready to go to the track yet. I have yet to fine tune the top end numbers but so far so good. Having said that, i have in the past had sudden and wierd issues that seem to screw things up, but this is the best the car has been running.

Still burning oil though

NIce Shaun can't wait to see her but yeah it was weird either that O2 is screwy or something, it seemed to run best while rich yet it was never spewing black out the back, ussually a car that runs 12.1 afr while cruising spits out some black yours didn't & when we'd try to aim for 14.7 afr it would run terrible, but sometimes in life you have to compromise. So what happens now if you try to run 14.7-15.5 afr cruising, Does it go all crazy? keep top end at 12.1-12.5.

Hope you're car will get better with the oil burning.

Cya soon.

Cory: No idea about the dyno issue. I can only assume that three WOT blasts in about 4 mins was too much for even the best of cooling systems. i have not had an overheat problem since.

Matt: I agree, the car was not as smooth as it should have been in spite of the O2 results. How I think it is a little too rich at idle right now BUT there is no question that the driveability has substanitlally impreoved. I do not get the poppong I was getting.

Bristol: Yup, that was me. I blew a rad hose. It appears that I had a rad hose rubbing against the AC pulley and it cut it open. Coolant all under the hood The fine folks at Goodyear tire put in a new one. BLOODY RED HOSE where EVERYTHING else is black.

Now I still have some work to do but and I'll be at PK tonight about 10.00

PK tonite? Hmmm. I'll try to make it myself too. I have plans in the evening, but I may try to wrap them up and be there around 11 or so. I'll try and be there tonite and Saturday for a bit. Hope to see some of you.

Shaun, this is news that is a step in the right direction.

Wasn't Harvey saying how unreliable he has found the FAST A/F readings? He may be right on that.

shaun wasnt there to hear harvey on that issue

u should compare ur dyno AFR readings with ur FAST readouts and consider the difference as a general correction ... now i have no idea how that margin changes in different AF ranges !? thats one thing u gotta talk to FAST about

harvey was saying how other systems like electromotive have calibrations for their wideband O2 .. that way u can calibrate them on the dyno and live happily every after !

thats next on me list

His DYNO AFR is the same as the read outs on the laptop, it just behaves funny. I still say its got to do with that initial throttle opening table.
