Thumbs up I won in court! ;)

I won my speeding ticket from Oct '02. My court date's been moved at least 3 times, when impossable to move a date I wrote a good letter and was approved.

Finally on my court date Nov '03 I get pulled aside and the cop says that they lost my evidence and Im free to go.

YEAH not-paying a $173 ticket.

4 benefits of taking it to court

1) Cop "calls in sick" or just doesnt show. INSTANT WIN.
2) They lose your ticket/evidence over the year. INSTANT WIN
3) The time it takes to actually get a court date, you can move to date up to 3 times....pushing it beyond your "points" billing period or just give you time to put it off for 8-14 months
4) Worst case, you lose but they'll give you a reduction/extended time to pay.

That's fantastic!

Were you speeding? Or were you ticketed incorrectly?

You didn't answer my question?

Were you given the ticket because you were actually speeding? Or was the ticket given under some false pretense?

As in, did you DESERVE the ticket?

i guess i'm lucky in that i've never been given a bull**** ticket... every ticket i've gotten i've totally deserved...

I think i should of been given warnings on most (only 3-4 speeding tickets in 10 years of driving), but thats just the luck of the draw on who pulls you over...

I just hate seeing people being so happy with getting away with something they deserve (not passing judgement on Cali yet, as she hasn't responded).

I've never tried to get a ticket reduced and nor will I if I know I did something wrong...

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime

but I guess 2 wrongs make a right, so your right, it does even out payam

I'd be choked tho if I was getting false tickets all over... but then, those would be the ones I'd fight... not the ones I deserve, hehe

Who would be that financially incompetent, to actually say "here's $173." and shy away. When they can push it and likely not pay!?

FYI: I was speeding, and Im not sorry (on that crisp fall night on an empty Nanaimo backroad straightstretch)

My opinion is that speed limits on many roads are too low - therefore if I am ticketed for speeding on such roads I will do everything I can to reduce or eliminate the fine. I would do this because I chose not to acknowledge the law that is in place to enforce this speed limit.

At the same time I am not going to cry if I lose and am forced to pay the fine.
