Is it a really violent clunk that feels like there is something hitting the floor underneath the center console and sorta by your feet? If it does it is probably your tansmission mount. Ive broken mine a couple times and the first time I thought my car was falling apart. Pretty bad bang against the floor between shifts, than most likely its tranny mount(I'll put money on it). Good thing is its a cheap fix. Only cost me $40 bucks at a tansmission shop for 20mins worth of work. Probably only a $20 part too. Ive heard the best to go with is a GM 1LE mount.

Did you just install the headers??? If so check to make sure that the exhaust wasn't mounted too close to the body. As the engine torques over it might be hitting the floor. And check your transmission cross-member bolts to make sure they are tight.

if it is the tranny mount, they're SOOO easy to replace, just jack up the car, unbolt it, jack up the tranny a little with a bottle jack, take out the old one, stick in the new one... 'unjack' the tranny, bolt = on, lower car, drive happy

For auto I'd never go with Poly again LOL Tried it and it sucked, for M6 only Poly, so I'd recommend 1LE for auto.
