Insurance is different. I was talking only about fuel. But I can imagine the cost of insuring more than 2 or 3 vehicles. That would suck!

I'm happy I am only .5 miles away from my classroom. I go through a tank of gas every two weeks now. WOOHOO!

I already spend a required 6 hours per week of exercise. I'm lazy when I'm allowed to be.

Half a mile will take me 20 mins at a good walk. If that & I am out of shape. Man if I worked only that far from home I would give up the car & walk to work. Maybe not while its raining or snowing or anything like that.

The only thing that rains around here is dirt. There's been 3 deaths here in the last two weeks from dust storms on the highways.

<smirk> try having just 1 Trans Am that gets 18 mpg, does 400 to 500 miles per WEEK, and ONLY gets 92+.

In the grand scheme of things I don't sweat gas prices really. It isn't FUN filling up to the tune of $30 instead of $20... but I figure it's only about $2400 for the entire year (at $2.20/gallon) and it wouldn't change much even if I drove a Saturn getting 34mpg and using 87 octane ($1200 @ $2/gallon). $1200 a decent amount of money, but the trade off probably isn't worth it.

I dunno... maybe it's time to get a crotch-rocket to the tune of 40mpg for summer use.

The main reason everyone was preaching that gas prices are high is that Opec had a cap on how much production is to take place, while demand was high, the cap on the supply was there. 2 month ago I belive Opec promised to lift this CAP so that there is no limit on supply, which in turn was supposed to DROP gas prices real far down & look good at the pumps in April. Well its April, from what I understand the CAP has been lifted by Opec yet gas prices are going sky high??????????
OPEC never promised to lift any caps. They actually cut production quotas a few months ago and want to hold them steady.

A few other reasons why prices are so high:

1. The US is trying to refill its Strategic reserves (they store something like over half a billion barrels of oil in case of emergency) that Clinton tapped to help ease high heating oil prices back in 2000.

2. Political and production losses in 2 major oil producing countries (Venezuala and Nigeria)

3. Skyrocketing demand for oil in China (imagine what will happen to oil reserves when all 1 billion+ people there can afford to drive)

Also remember that OPEC only produces 40% of the world's oil... they are not the only ones to blame.

That fact is that there isn't much headroom for more oil production guys. Demand is increasing, but proven reserves and production are not matching this increase. This means oil prices will continue to climb into the stratosphere until we run out entirely.

It's not as simple as turning a valve to flow more oil - there just isn't much productive capacity left. In 10 years I bet we will be paying $2.00/liter if not more.

$108.2 is what I filled up for today I think the last time I filled up it was 90-95 cents for 94 at Chevron. This sucks but I would still do it if it was more expensive.

Did anyone read the article in the Vancouver Sun on Thursday? It explained a bit of why the prices were alittle higher right now. I cant remember much of the article but it said that the prices will come down for summer. This happens every year about this time. The lower mainland also has some of the highest gas taxes in the country.

I always fill up at the airport and I have been paying $1.05 for a year now, for 100 octane AV gas.

Back then it seemed a little dear, but when I took octane boost into consideration it was still cheaper filling up with 100 octane. Now it seems cheap.

Hey Pa'yam, excuse my ignorance, but what is a SRT4? If you want cheap transportation, buy my 91 4 banger auto Passat. Last time I checked it got some 40 mpg+. $4900.00 and hey, it has a full tank.
