Custom design tubular chassis parts...

Drive Shaft loop (something that will fit will my long tubes)
Spohn Torque Arm (I want to run sub-tens some day

There is also an interesting product that BMR makes that eliminates the heavy front bumper support for 4th gen Camaro's. They have a unit on BMR's twin turbo project car and apparently they took a lot of weight off the from enbd with it.
Other easily made products would be LCR's and Panhard Rods

As far as reproducing a part, or making your own, especially Torque Arms, IMO what is on the market is a pretty good value given the the Time, Effort and Materials you get for the $$. You have to realize that Brett and Steve both do JUST this for their livings, and as such, have gotten these things down to assemble with Ease. There are some units out there that are somewhat what I'd call Price Gouging (Price out a Random or LGM TA). But I wouldn't mind spending $3-500 US on the Spohn or BMR pieces any day of the week.
I sent over $600 US on my Torque Arm, plus install. I couldn't be happier. Just as Steven said, by the time you buy Rod Ends, Grade 8 Hardware, and the Tubing (beit Mild or Moly), there isn't a whole lot of coin left over for somebody's time.
I guess I just don't mind paying for someone's time when I feel they're worth it.
Perry will be lending me his 6pt. Wolfe roll cage....that is the first thing that will be made....we will bw making 6 of them...then SFC's..thanks to Doc...and the tunnel brace thanks to Matt and A4 tranny cross brace is being done on CAD..so those will take a bit longer

just a friendly adviceon another note: making the cage (ie bending the tubes) is the easiest part of the project .. it took Dany @ progas about 30 minutes to actually make / bend the tubing .. and the rest of the day to prep and install .. the biggest pain in the **** and time consumer was welding in plates / making the swing out mechanism.. oh .. and different seats (ta vs camaro) would probably like differnt style side bars to accomodate the contours of the seat / door panel

just a friendly advice

....now for us A4 guys...no one out there makes a tubular tranny cross brace...I removed mine so we can take some measurements..so I can test fit it.
custom made and weighs about 2.5#
As for the cage being coppied it is prob cheaper to just get one from art morrison or like cause the metal isn't much diff in cost versus the effort it is gonna take to have it done. (imo of course) To beat 150 us for a rollbar your gonna have to have some mad connections for the tubing.
Subframes i would take a look at something like I have on my car (2 point ones) they are very simple and really suprise me how strong they are.
The rod ends you just buy cause the strong ones are made out of chromoly.
For the a4 crossmember why not grab a stocker and make up a jig shouldn't be too hard to really do as it is only 3 points to mount.
Mike if you want me to send you an email of the breakdown on what all the parts for a strong t/a will cost I can but I honestly don't see someone making a short production of them and getting close to BMR or Spohn (heim joints, powdercoating, welding, time, tubing etc...
Hope all the fab stuff comes through easy

Thanks Steven, my bro in law is a whiz when it comes to autoCAD...he made up this trick azz A4 tranny set-up....the good news is that he did it so the TA is mounted on the cross brace and not on the tail shaft. The tunnel brace he did on CAD is solid aluminum...as for the torque arm, to keep the cost down, he has come up with a fixed degree, one for an A4 and one for an M6. As for tubing for cages...he has a 2 ton of overload of cro-moly tubing...I really hope this goes well.
Mike
