Custom design tubular chassis parts...

...hey guys...we all know modding is expensive ....I've been looking around some products that would be very easy to make..my brother in law builds alum. boats, he has a shop in Tilbury...he was over my place the other day and I showed him my BMR subframe connectors (not installed)....I told him how much I paid for them and he laughed at me, he said it would have taken him an hour and 25.00 in parts to build this. So this morning I was on the BMR site and I think some of you might be interested in the BMR tunnel brace...have a look..

http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-bodyChassis.htm

....once again, very easy to make...I have a stock one so I can match up the bolts and size it up....

....does anyone have any subframe connectors not installed (mine are for a vert so there different)....I would like to get a general idea of what the measurements are so Leon can make a jig so each one is the same...

....now for us A4 guys...no one out there makes a tubular tranny cross brace...I removed mine so we can take some measurements..so I can test fit it.

...these 3 items are very easy to make, given the right equipment...which he has. Last year he spent 20 grand on the pipe bending machine and he never put it to use...he mentioned...roll cage's...once again if I could get a hold of one out of the car he can make a jig for it.

...I'm dead serious about this....if BMR can become what they have in the last couple years...then why can't someone improve a mod. My main focus right now is the tranny cross brace...if I could make a lighter, stonger and trick product...I could be in business. But I would also like to get a hold of some SFC's for non-verts so we can find ways to improve structure...also STB's are product that need some improving.

...in the next couple of weeks I'd like to get some demo's so they can be tested.

Great idea Mike. No one has ever gotten rich working for someone else. I see your name in lights; SleeperZfabrication, profit margin sounds outstanding.

If you could make the crap light weight , I hate heavy stuff !! Everything aftermarket is sooo heavy . Chromemoly subframes and tunnel braces and stuff would be awsome !! Kenny brown subframes are like 44 #'s or something , lakewoods driveshaft safety loop is like 7 # No thanks !!

could he copy a torque arm ? the guy who did my cage said he can copy a spohn arm for about $400 if we get 5 of them together .. thats less t han half price if u order it (by the time it gets here) and if u add the optional loops and other bells and whistles

I showed him mine (BMR) and he said "easy".....but the reason why there so expensive is because of the adjustability..he would have to get the custom machined billet bolts, which would be hard and expensive to get done....he said if there was a fixed angle...it would be easy

yeah urs IS easy .. but i dont want urs .. i want to have the SPOHN copied .. the whole point of a new torque arm is to take the load off the tranny tailshaft .. the oneu got looks like stock (goes in the back of t he tranny) .. the spohn one is a lot more involved . has 2 bushings.. etc etc

...you will not find anyone around here wanted to spend 400 bucks on a TA...but like said...all I need a copy so we can make a jig...once a jig is made they can be made in mass quanities...but right now the demand is for what I have...

actually .. i think there was a bit of interest in the spohn design torque arm too for $400 last time i made a post

no offence, but in all honesty, the stock torque arm's design is bad by nature .. the fact that it is connected to the tailshaft of the tranny is its main flaw, not the fact that its not adjustable or its weak .. IMHO !!!

so if ur bro in law can duplicate the spohn design for less than $400 i'd be all over it

It's only bad in extreme HP applications....the flex in the "stock" TA is controlled by a bushing...that bushing dampens most of the shock. Also having an A4 there's even less shock...

I'm interested in:

Strut Tower Brace
"copied" Wolfe 6 point cage
Drive Shaft loop (something that will fit will my long tubes)
Spohn Torque Arm (I want to run sub-tens some day )

There is also an interesting product that BMR makes that eliminates the heavy front bumper support for 4th gen Camaro's. They have a unit on BMR's twin turbo project car and apparently they took a lot of weight off the from enbd with it.

Other easily made products would be LCR's and Panhard Rods
