Clutch Install Question???

I'm installing a new clutch in my t56 and the book says to drain the transmission fluid. Is this true???
Also my clutch cylinder is leaking fluid, is there a repair kit for this or do I have to purchase a new one?

Thanx in advance

Question 1

No you dont have to drain the fluid . However you will have to keep the driveshaft slid into the back of the 6 speed as you remove it. I have a cut off yoke of a old driveshaft that i shove in the tail shaft of the tranny when i pull them so that fluid does not leak out. I have a couple extra driveshafts laying around if you would like to hack one up for your purpose or you can borrow mine.

Question 2 i presume you are talking about the slave cylinder you can buy it from lordco for around 80 bucks if you have the standard bs 30 % discount through gm you have to buy the clutch slave and master plus lines . It comes together for around 250

Thanx Mike. I'll try keeping my driveshaft in there and see how it goes. If it's too awkward I'll take you up on that old driveshaft.
Thanx again
