he i ran a drag simulator and punched in all my specs and before i was shifting at 5900 and then the tranny would lag and actually shift at about 6200, well now i shift at 6100 and its not shifting till 6500!!! so im shifting effectvely at 6500rpm on a stock sbc and it likes it as you can tell hah

Hmmm, I was shifting at 6500 but it was probably higher as well due to sloppy shifter cable and such. I'll try at 61-6200 and see if that helps me.

ya, unless you got a full manual valve body, the auto retains its automatic features such as the second gear band etc. when your holding it in first and shift to second the band has to apply and dissingage to line up to second gear, cuz the low/reverse clutch drum and hight clutch drum are spining then the second gear clutches need to allign in this. if you got a full manual its a different operation going on in there and it hapeens instantly as soon as you move the lever. same as in "drive" mode to keep it simple, 2 less parts are moving inside so its auto lined up so the shifts are instantly, but if you shift manual 1-2 by hand in not a full manual tranny, you got to account for the delay factor of the shifting, thats why i set me shift light at around 6100 cuz its in gear by 6500rpm

p.s. this is th350 tech, other autos are similar but do certian things differently, results are similar but not exact

I was there the first time you broke into the 12's...your time was 12.99 . I think you're referring to the second time .

ABOUT TIME!

I will help you out on the shifting. Take and put heavier govenor springs in it. It will shift real soon when shifting automaticly but will make the shift quicker when you manualy shift as well

I remember my first 12 in my 74 Z28. It was 10 years ago now. 12.46@116 on M/T 28x12.5s 15s. With 4.56s it would hook hard and run the fuel bowls dry resulting in 1.9x 60ft times.

Good to see that thing running good!
